The Vedas all refer to river Saraswati. In the Mahabharat, Lord Balram changed the course of the river Saraswati with his plough because the river had reduced to a trickle due to a tectonic shift.

What does that tell you?

That by the time Mahabharata events were taking place, the river Saraswati had ceased to exist effectively. And yet all the Vedas only mention river Saraswati as a mighty river.

You can see for yourself the time period chronologically.

Lol! I never said that Mahabharat happened before Vedas( I find it funny you actually wrote such a long reply explaining me why Vedas came before Mahabharat). I'm not that crazy 😆 But if you are insinuating that Radha Upanishad was an interpolated Upanishad, then ok. I've no problem with that. I have seen some Purva mimamsikas even arguing that Upanishads are interpolated and have nothing to do with Vedas. They believe that only Brahmanas and Samhitas are true portions of Vedas, they abuse us Vedantins a lot 😆 So nothing new. You can believe whatever you want to, it's free world. In the Krishna Leela, there's always a particular Gopi who was very special to Krishna, she was mentioned indirectly as " Aaradhika. Anyways, being a Vedantin, I only take the spiritual aspects of the stories. I don't know why some Hindus are ashamed to acknowledge Radha Krishna's love. Radha personifies love for the Supreme Brahman, the same way Hanuman does. These are the characters from which Bhaktas get inspiration to serve the Lord. And about Devdutt, yes he's an idiot. In other words, it actually doesn't matter whether these characters even existed or not. Purely from a Vedantin point of view, they represent the relation between Jivatma and ParamAtma. Have you heard of Gaudiya Vaishnavism?Radha is never thought of as someone who's above Vishnu/ Krishna. Krishna is Purush and Radha is His Prakriti.
Please read Sri Aurobindo's views about Radha( one of the greatest Indian Mystics):Radha is the personification of the absolute love for the Divine, total and integral in all parts of the being from the highest spiritual to the physical, bringing the absolute self-giving and total consecration of all the being and calling down into the body and the most material nature the supreme Ananda.

About Wendy Doniger: So true man! I feel so so sad. Sadly her views are quite popular in the West; Well Puranic stories have deep escortic meanings and cannot be understood by someone who is not spiritually evolved;the meaning which you take from the text reflects your own spiritual development. So from the distorted view of hers we can understand what kind of mindset she has.

Agree. The way Krishna is described in Mahabharata is very different from the calendar depictions. Thunderous voice, mountain like biceps, tall etc. No peacock feather. Also, a very serious man. No flirting, few jokes.
