Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena, who joined hands to form Phantom Films in 2011, have decided to part ways and dissolve their production company.

Calling it quits after 7 years, the former partners have decided to go their separate ways.

Sharing the news, Anurag Kashyap tweeted, "Phantom was a dream, a glorious one and all dreams come to an end. We did our best and we failed. But I know for sure we will come out of this stronger, wiser and will continue to pursue our dreams our own individual ways. We wish each other the best.

Probably dissolved it because they faced a lot of flak for still having Vikas Bahl onboard. They couldn't fire him and ditch their own frat member, at the same time couldn't look like hypocrites for continuing to enable an alleged sexual harasser while posturing a liberal view.

So the best thing to do was dissolve the production house and go it alone. Interestingly it happened in the wake of another MeToo movement happening in Bollywood/India. I guess they didn't want any more controversies.

^ Yeah they were anyways not functioning together. I'm glad Anurag spoke frankly about how he is not on speaking terms with Vikas and he works from home and not their phantom office during the release of Manmarziyan.

It's about money and you need to know how to make money. Majority of their films have been good efforts which felt short of being a good cinema. Nevertheless tried but failed. Besides Wasseypur and Khosla ka ghosla (Divakar doesn't belong to ghit group though) majority of films weren't engaging and entrtiannent enough.

I dont know about the personal equations but movies at the end of the day are business and Phantom seems to have had major losses. They have tried everything but nothing worked. I have wondered as to how the production house even survives? What and how do the people get paid. Profits are not just about being money minded but they are also a way to function smoothly.

Probably coz of money .
Their movies are not making money and their partner reliance is in shambles and debts , reliance entertainment is another failed project of Anil ambani.
