there are some really good directors who keep making amazing films...there also so that have made good films at one point but have gotten repetitive and/ or there movies have even gotten worse? Which directors are overrated and not as "talented" as they are proclaimed to be?

SLB if we go by awards won and industry people.
While he isn't regarded highly regarded by critics, but industry talks of him as some great revolutionary.

Mohabbatain, RNBDJ and Befikre have proved that DDLJ was a fluke and probably ghost-directed by Yash Chopra.

Aditya Chopra- Even I'm of the opinion that Yash Chopra must have ghost directed DDLJ. I thought even Aditya can't make a movie worse than Rabne banadi jodi and he proved me wrong by subjecting me to Befikre. Ugh!

Imtiaz Ali-same old basic af plot that he try to sells as something new and out of the box.
