Eid Gives Gold A Lift

Gold got a a lift from Bakr Eid as it grossed 6 crore nett on Wednesday. This has taken the eight day total of the film to 85 crore nett which is decent. The film has a trend of doing better on the holidays and tends to go low on the other days. The first day was very strong and then it did well again on Sunday and Bakr Eid.

There will be drop in collections tomorrow as it come off a holiday and remains to be seen how big this drop is as this will determine the extended first week number. The film has done best in Mumbai (except Gujarat), Delhi / UP, West Bengal and Mysore. The collections in mass circuits have got a lift over the last two days but in the second week the likes of CPCI and Bihar will low. Surprisingly the film has done better than Satyameva Jayate over the Eid period despite that film having more for the Muslim audience.

The growth for Gold has been better over the last two days. The first eight day business of Gold is as follows.

Wednesday - 25,25,00,000 apprx

Thursday - 8,00,00,000 apprx

Friday - 10,00,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 12,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 15,25,00,000 apprx

Monday - 3,85,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 4,50,00,000 apprx

Wednesday - 6,00,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 84,85,00,000 apprx

well this is not its opening day, in its opening day it got 25.20 crores.
The target audience has already been exhausted, this was its 7th day plus WOM has not been extraordinary, so it is gonna collection is gonna be on the low spectrum.

Was so excited to watch Reema Kagti's next after the best physiological thriller in Bollywood history, Talaash(IMO). What a let down. Chak De is so much more superior. Akshay was below average. Mouni was surprisingly good. Kunal Kapoor steady as always. Amit Sandh & Sunny Kaushal were the best part of this mess of a film.

One of my very close friend who is a big akki fan watched it and she didn't like it ...she was saying that akshay was the weakest link of the movie and they tried to copy chak de india but failed, co-incidentally she watched chak de india a couple of weeks ago only for the 1st time since she doesn't like shahrukh so it was still fresh in her memory . According to her supporting cast was very good.

Comparison with Chak De is not fair, as Chak De is far superior, arguably the finest sports drama India ever made.
Also every sports movie has those elements, it wasn't really copying Chak De.
The movie's theme was about free India uniting together to get the Gold while Chak De dealt with women empowerment and integrity of the nation.

That was my friend's view considering she watched chak de only recently so may be she found some similarity but she was definitely disappointed in akshay . I haven't watched it so i can't say about similarity .
