Varun is ranbir junior. He is doing good himself.

When Ranbir's career was down, Bollywood set up Varun Dhawan as the replacement star kid superstar-prince of Bollywood. Now they will all ditch Varun and go back to Ranbir
Sanju crossed Judwaa 2 in 4 days. And Bollywood folks were celebrating it's opening like Varun did some magic. I am sure Sui Dhaaga will be a hit, but everything will look miniscule in front of Sanju.

Well..in a year when everyone and everything was flopping left right and center (and embarrassingly flopping at that), delivering back to back hits was something wouldn't you say, so it is not surprising that people put him on a pedestal. But Judwaa 2 was an absolutely awful movie. 🥱😆

And Aamir as some sheen comes off his own stardom contributing to 3I and PK. And probably Hirani will go to Ranbir again with his next film which wont make Aamir happy.

but Aamir record grossers and record opening before 3I...

I am gonna go ahead and ask the important question, Why did you even watch Judwaa 2? 😆

Despite everything, Judwaa opened at 16 Cr. I am not saying, it isn't impressive on it's own, but it is lower than Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela's opening 4 years back. But it was hyped as some sort of blockbuster start. I just don't think he will get the same kind of hype machinery, now that everyone can suck up to Ranbir instead. 😆

This star power and BO nonsense is getting out of hand. I understand success is important and it is measured by the money your films make but this obsession with BO and measuring an actor's standing solely based on his success and the money his last film made is getting ridiculous. Ranbir was always a good actor and I don't even think Sanju is his best performance yet but it seems like its being acknowledged only because of the money the film is making. Ditto with Varun. He was hyped when he did trash yet Judwa 2 yet the poor guy is being bashed after delivering a fabulous film like October. I don't care if it flopped. Varun was brilliant as Dan. It's easily the best performance of his career. I honestly hope he does not get disillusioned after its failure and sticks to commercial films (I could almost sense that disillusionment in Ranbir 😆)

Well he never had a well packaged film, most of his films relied just on him. That is one of the reasons he doesn't have high grosser. But now he has some interesting and big films coming up so he should score big. The biggest advantage he has is in every 6 months his films get a release, that helps him to maintain the buzz around him

Varun did say in interview post release of October that he will do off beat film like October in every 2-3 years.

lol. I was bored and it was coming on TV. 😆 Waise bhi, was there anything even worth watching last year? 😆

Absolutely, given that Tiger is at 25Cr and Ranbir at 30Cr, no one is going to care much about Varun's 15cr or hype it - not even fans. But I think you also have to take the scenario at the time into account when you think about why the hype. When Varun gave that 16Cr opening, Ranbir was giving less than 10Cr with his films and Ranveer was giving flops with Aditya Chopra. Akki hardly manages above that as well. Add it to the dismal year that BW was having, it's no surprise that they hyped him like crazy.
