In no order

Chitranganda in HKA
Kareena in Yuva and JWM
Ayesha Takia in Socha na Tha
Deepika in Piku
Richa Chadha in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!

From the older lot nothing sticks out from the 90s except maybe Urmila in Rangeela.

Going back further..

Nutan's character in Saudagar and Sharmila Tagore's in Chupke Chupke. Oh and Madhubala's character in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi.

Piku - She was the best portrayal of a modern woman and it was all shown in a very nice, subtle manner by Shoojit.
Piku was independent, responsible, difficult to handle (her altercations with the car drivers), drank alcohol, slept with a man who wasn't her boyfriend in the proper sense of the word, went on dates with other men - and all of it was shown without Shoojit or anyone else shouting till their lungs gave up over how modern and urban their female lead character is. Love the direction.

Vidya from Kahaani - Amazingly strong woman in a man's world who used her womanhood as a weapon, and not as a weakness.

Rani from Queen - Loved hear adaptability and openmindedness.

Pakhi from Lootera - Such a bold and beautiful woman.

Archi from Sairat.

Shruti Kakkar from Band Bajaa Baraat : An entrepreneur who knew her thing. I love how the character not just kept speaking abour a career but had one and she had been the one who had worked her ass off to achieve what she wanted. Absolutely love the scene where she speaks to Bittu about what she wanted to do in the future while they are travelling in the bus. She had rules, broke them, cussed herself for doing so and had accepted the changes but not without being hesitant initially. Easily one of my favourites.
Kalpana from Ghajini : She was happy in her own little world but didn't mind dreaming a little big. 😆 A little silly was always so determined to help people even until her last breath. She was such a warm, lively and a kind hearted person. No wonder Sanjay lost it completely when he lost her.

Konkana's charecter in Luck by chance : A small charecterstics but I like. She fell in love with the wrong guy, who didnt respect her whatsoever and took her for granted. She learns from her mistake and moves on without going behind him. She evolved as a person throughout the film.

Ananya from 2 states : Strong, independent...values her family and their respect as much as she values herself and her love. Carries a practical approach towards life, level headed, not flawless and a pretty relatable charecter.

Meera from NH10 : Just to have that effing courage to finish off that sorry excuse of a human, she emerged as a badass given all those horrible incidents which she had survived. .

Apart from these, I definitely like the other famous charecters like Rani, Geet and Vidya Bagchi
