Let's Talk Films Retweeted Let's Talk Films

Except #Sanju All 200cr+ and 300cr+ movies in bollywood by any Superstar were all released in festival/national holiday/holiday season. (Diwali, Holi, Eid, Xmas, 15Aug, 26jan, 2oct... Etc) Quite an extraordinary achievement for #RanbirKapoor #RajkumarHirani #RajkumarHiraniFilms

Finally found the thread lol. Why isn't it pinned. Just saw it. Regardless of whatever I feel about Ranbir as a human being, what a wonderful actor he is. He is flawless here barring the hamming in some scenes but truly one of the best India has ever produced. But the one am taking away most is Paresh Rawal's performance. Sunil Dutt as a human being is immortalised in my head now. This movie glorifies Sanjay too much, paints everything in black or white and romanticizes the worst parts of Sanjay but Sunil Dutt,I feel is represented with so much understanding and compassion and my heart shattered for him again and again. Vicky too is amazing. Esp that scene where he goes to spill the truth about Sanjay's addiction to Sunil Dutt. The actors are so good that one can just swallow the bitter pill that's glorification that happens. The movie failed to brainwash me but the actors esp Paresh Rawal will stay with me for such a long long time. And Ranbir should take a bow. AMAZING.

Sanju Continues To Dominate The Box Office

Sanju continued to dominate the box office with 20 crore nett in its third weekend. It remained the top collecting film even though had failed behind Ant Man And The Wasp on Friday. The total collections of the film is 310 crore nett till date.

There is a drop in collections in week three as the film heads to a lifetime of around 340 crore nett but the most important thing is this 340 crore nett is coming outside a festive or holiday period. It has smashed records of films released outside holidays by a distance if we exclude Bahubali - The Conclusion. If this film was an Xmas release when most of our big grossers have been released then its pretty much certain all records of outright Hindi films would have been smashed.

The collections of Sanju till date are as follows

Friday - 34,19,00,000

Saturday - 38,41,00,000

Sunday - 46,73,00,000

Monday - 25,25,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 21,75,00,000 apprx

Wednesday - 18,25,00,000 apprx

Thursday - 15,50,00,000 apprx

Week One - 2,00,08,00,000 apprx

Friday - 12,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 21,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 27,50,00,000 apprx

Monday - 9,00,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 7,50,00,000 apprx

Wednesday - 6,25,00,000 apprx

Thursday - 5,50,00,000 apprx

Week Two - 89,75,00,000 apprx

Friday - 4,25,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 8,50,00,000 apprx

Second Weekend - 20,00,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 3,09,83,00,000 apprx

frankly speaking a movie like Sanju should not be released on a Christmas or a Diwali, the movie is quite depressing, I don't think people are open to watching such movies during that time, heck I think the depressing elements affected it even in the non-Christmas period.

I am not sure how reliable budget information on BOI is, but
Padmavat - 215 Cr
Tiger Zinda Hai - 210 Cr
Dhoom 3 - 175 Cr
Kick - 145 Cr
Sultan - 145 Cr
Dangal - 132 Cr
Bajrangi Bhaijan - 125 Cr
PK - 122 Cr

This should easily be on the lower end of the cost. Pretty impressive.
