Race 3 recorded huge opening numbers in United Kingdom as it did business close to 800,000 in three days and was the fourth highest opener ever in the market. United Kingdom is a dwindling market with loyalty cards of main multiplexes cutting into business. This is getting more and more prevalent in the market which is why numbers are stagnating.
Race 3 probably has the highest footfalls in the opening weekend since My Name Is Khan but the gross is less than Dhoom 3 even though the ticket price is little higher now. A ticket taken through the loyalty cards gives less than 50% of the original ticket price to the box office. These cards are on the rise over the last five years.
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna released in 2006 is at number six and reminds of the good days at the UK box office for Hindi films and that 750k total of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna came from only 60 sites while Race has done 780k from 140 sites.
The highest all time openings in United Kingdom are as follows.
1. Dhoom 3 (2013) - 884,567
2. My Name Is Khan (2010) - 812,706
3. Chennai Express (2013) - 790,968
