Thanks to everyone for shedding light on this. I was genuinely curious after watching two movies released in the same month in the year 2018, showing this. Not just that, this was happening to characters that are modern Indian women living in big Indian cities. I mean, I wouldn't have been surprised if this was shown as reality of rural India. But both movies showed two modern, young, educated women going through this. So, I was really shocked.
