Don't know if the reasons are true or if it's another PR lie, but good for DP to not sign irrelevant roles and wait for substantial roles and demand the right fee. If average and overrated free platter parasite like Alia can get good roles due to nepotism, then DP and other actresses should definitely get good roles, and they should get high fee if Ranbir and others get 30-40+ Million( with the exception of khans who deserve it)just because they are male.

Also, Padmavati wasn't an author backed role. More of like supporting role and RS had an author backed role. Though it did look it was an author backed role thanks to Karna Sena and SLB publicity and due to it being the title of the movie which brought lots of buzz to DP, so she did get benefit out of it a bit before the move but RS got everything out of it when the actual move got released.

Even if you don't like her and fair enough to that ,do you really think Deepika isn't getting offers? Hatred shouldn't make people lose objectivity, she is very much in demand and deserves the remuneration she is asking!

That said, she is definitely not in the zone these days otherwise after being in a super hit movie, how is she sitting back and not doing anything. Very strange.

Also can we stop calling actresses who are in their early 30's , OLD?! Seriously, I see so many posts of people saying she is losing her looks due to age, its beyond ridiculous.

She's definitely getting offers. In one of her post Padmaa release interviews she said she has 10 scripts that she's currently reading. Then there was some bollywood insider guy on twitter who said she liked two of them in April but now he's gone back to sounding like she isn't interested. She also said in her Tings interview that released recently that she wants to do more American movies. Well I watch more American TV shows than anything else and even the low budget TV show actresses are better than the current Bollywood actresses. And there are actors from South Africa, England and Australia who learn the American accent to get roles. So if she's really serious about Hollywood she'll have to be serious about her craft. They actually have an auditioning process in the USA.

I think by author backed she meant that Padmaa was inspired by a poem. And Sapna Didi is a biopic. I guess since these kinds of roles offer better scripts they're preferred. But she's always said that it's not about the amount of screentime she gets. She just wants to believe in the story and make an impact. That's why she did Tamasha.

E.T.A

I just googled author backed coz I wasn't 100% sure what it meant. And Bollywood actors are lucky to get roles tailor made for them 🥱

^^Truth.
She just had a massive hit in Jan/Feb, dunno why people are panicking.
If not for Irrfan being ill, she would be filming. Deepika is probably having free time due to that schedule.
It's not like she can just accept a movie and start shooting straight away- she needs time to choose which script she wants to do, then sort schedule, then start prep. Things can't be done in a minute.

Yeah the Sapna Didi biopic is something she's wanted to do for 2 years now. So she needs to make sure her schedule doesn't delay it any further once Irrfan is better.

^^She also said, when Irrfan got ill, that she will wait for him to get well.
That means she wasn't going to commit to anything else.
Even if she has 2-3 scripts she wants to do, she probably gave schedules for end of summer, or next year.

Padmavat added nothing to her career, except for a hit. While a good niche film like Raazi has made Aalia the no.1. Like someone mentioned she must be working towards buying more Insta followers to compete with PC, her only active media outlet.

1) not a katrina and priyanka fan, so wrong number!

2) have you seen her face recently? 😕
