cancelled the bailable warrant against
Salman Khan in the 2002 hit and run case. A
bailable warrant was issued against the
Dabangg actor in the first week of April
since he had not provided a surety (a
guarantor for good behaviour) in the past
two dates, as part of the procedure.
A report on the Economic Times quoted
special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat as
informing that Salman Khan was supposed
to appear before the court to provide surety
as per the directions of the Supreme Court,
which admitted the government's appeal.
Back in December 2015, Salman was
acquitted by the High Court, of all criminal
charges in the 2002 hit and run case, due to
lack of substantial evidence. This happened
about seven months after the sessions court
had held him guilty in the said case.
For those who're caught unaware,
Bollywood actor Salman Khan was accused
of running his car over those sleeping on
the pavement back in 2002 in Bandra. One
person was killed in the said incident and
the actor was sentenced to five years
imprisonment in jail by the trial court in the
said case.
