He does look wooden in some movies. That's because (just like audience) he also cannot understand, what the hell in going on in the movie. Example: Bar Bar Dekho.
(Just imagine, if you were to play his role. You would have been mental by the time shooting gets finished. At least, he came out normal).

But he needs to chill out while doing lighter scenes. (Unfortunately he is not presented with such scenes or characters, where he can connect with us, say like Badri).

I was waiting for people to say that KJo is giving all the good projects to Varun and Alia and favoring them more... sigh. 😆 Just what if Sid isn't good enough? He's had ample opportunity to build his relationship with audience and has dabbled with many genres - what if the audience aren't motivated enough to go to the theatres to see him?

If I were a fan, I'd be grateful to Dharma for giving him the opportunities he got and giving him guidance:
Sid was given top billing in his debut film with a whole song dedicated to his character in SOTY and he even got the girl. 😆
His 2nd film was secured by Dharma itself - HTP which had a good budget, marketing, costar as well as music. Film didn't work.
Brothers - had Akshay shouldering most of the film and a huge ass budget. Film didn't work.
KNS - Sid was given first billing again and a character that played to his strengths - being the quiet, reserved guy. Music of the film was good too and he was paired with Alia. Film worked but most of the appreciation fell in Fawad's lap.
What Sid did to deserve a budget as large as Baar Baar Dekho is still puzzling to me. Huge heroine, chartbuster song, good presentation... and thenga, a pretty low opening too. At this point Sid had done SIX films and FIVE of them carried Dharma's name. From SOTY to BBD - Dharma released TEN large-scaled films out which Sid was in FIVE.

They didn't give up on him. 😆 Ittefaq was coproduced by SRK. The budget was kept low but he still couldn't make money for Dharma.

EV was Sid's biggest hit but IMO, he wasn't the main talking point. If he were to do "masala" films like this, well we all saw how A Gentleman turned out. 😆 That was a popcorn entertainer resting on his shoulders that HE chose on his own. Phirse fail. Maybe something's up with his connect with the audience and his performance skills... and not Dharma, the directors and writers and whoever else we wanna blame? 😕

They narrated both characters at the same time so I assumed it was two different people.

I think KJO has only helped Alia. Varun looks like he navigated his own way - being a star kid does get you contacts that goes for Shraddha Kapoor as well

But Sid is an outsider he won't have those conversations so easily. I feel like he is lost and doesn't what to do, I don't think he's the worst actor out there but does need improvement

Sid needs to do massy masala films. EV was a huge hit he needs to go back to those kind of films and this is why Varun and Tiger are smart they know how to built their fanbase, advantage of being born in the industry.

Umm..you mean like A Gentleman and Brothers?

To be honest I cannot for the life of me imagine Sid as Badri or Humpty.. the only 2 movies KJo gave Varun...he's too...sophisticated...and well I don't think Sid could have played the female love interest in all the other films Alia did, so I think KJo has done as much as he could.

I think Kjo to be fair did what he could for Sid. After a point you have to have a USP which no one has or maybe brains to pick up what is best for you and use that the best way you can. Sid's over dependency on Kjo goes against him. He must now after five years in the industry make his own connections and lobby for himself. He can't do much about his acting or screen presence but with the right director and script it can be covered up like Mohit Suri did to an extent in EV. He should go to commercial directors like MS and lobby with them to make films with him. Not look for Dharma stamp everywhere.

😆. Agree with one of the posters "he looks too sophisticated". May be he should act little chill out. Not too reserved. Among current group, only Ranveer or Varun has commoner look that we can connect to.
It is not just because, they have average looks. Handsome people also can shine as commoners (Akki). Sid has to loose some stiffness.

I realise. I just used some polish words, instead of saying "he is wooden".
