It is not just because, they have average looks. Handsome people also can shine as commoners (Akki). Sid has to loose some stiffness.

Sid is really nice offscreen. And he has some of sanest fans around. But he isn't a good actor. I hardly connect with him. Sad though. I think he deserve more success. But tbh I really don't mind watching him as Nikhil in HTP than Badri series.

He should learn to detach himself/(his personality) in front of the camera. Sridevi is great in that sense. She was polar opposite onscreen (bubbly) and offscreen (too reserved).

Ofcourse I can't say for someone who rather watch OTT acting onscreen as compared to bland or non acting. For me I really don't mind the non acting much as compared to cringeworthy OTT hamming. Again, i also agree his acting needs to improve ALOT. I'm also hoping if not acting then he improves in something else atleast to sell himself onscreen. It doesn't help him that his contemporaries are doing much better than him, critically and commercially. But he is such a nice person IRL and I don't believe in those mean blinds cos I have seen him IRL his behaviour is simple sweet and awkward/shy kind.
