This is not true. She was more popular and popular belief is, she foresaw Abhimaan's scenario in her personal life and withdrew herself from her career. Wish she didn't though. Big B doesn't deserve that. Anyhow, her wish, #HerChoice. 😆

Also, she will always be known as Jaya Bhaduri to many including me than as Jaya Bachchan. 😃

Jaya Bahaduri is the reason Amitabh Bachchan is the famous Amitabh Bachchan and not the other way around. People need to get their facts right and their male egos corrected.

She was the more famous and better actor before Amitabh came in the picture.
