though one of my fav he is but what happened to him 🤢

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's ban is Bollywood's national responsibility,' says Babul Supriyo

Singer-turned-union minister Babul Supriyo said that Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice in a song that features in Bollywood film Welcome To New York, must be removed and dubbed by someone else.

Actor Salman Khan apparently got Arijit Singh's voice replaced in Tiger Zinda Hai, and he is said to have done it again for Welcome To New York. (Also Read: Welcome To New York's new song Ishtehaar will hit the right chords in your heart)

Supriyo said that he is not able to comprehend the need or desire to cross the border for entertainment content at a time when tensions on the India-Pakistan border have escalated.

"If that's true, I would request the makers of the film to remove Rahat's voice and get someone else to dub it! I am also not sure why Atif Aslam got to sing Dil Diya Gallan (Tiger Zinda Hai) when for sure our very own Arijit could have done a much better job. The FM stations played the song galore while news channels announced the name of our soldiers martyred by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists," he said.

Supriyo said India has no problems with either Atif or Rahat.

"Atif as an artist sounds great in Dil Diya Gallan" and Rahat is a great singer too. But it's important to clarify that our problem is not with the artists Atif or Rahat, but with their Pakistani nationality. It's not a political stand but probably the families who have lost their sons, brothers, fathers would feel a lot better should the entire country show solidarity in any manner possible," he added.

Bollywood, Supriyo said, has a national responsibility.

"Bollywood is an integral part of that Indianism. It represents India worldwide, hence banning Pakistani artists in Indian films would have also taken the protest against organised terrorism by the rogue nation, worldwide. And, I very clearly recall that such a promise was made when Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had met protests due to Fawad Khan. And why is Pakistan's entertainment industry silent over cross-border terrorism," Supriyo said.

"It's pertinent to note that one cannot recall a single Pakistani artist made famous by Bollywood, condemn terror acts by Pakistan. Enough is enough now, ban them for their only crime, that is being a Pakistani. Let we Indians wear our hearts on our sleeves and let our hearts beat in salutation of the sacrifice of our brave hearts," Supriyo added.

Babul Supriyo has provided vocals for the films Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Fanaa, Hum Tum and Kucch To Hai.

Artists and entertainers help in resolving the tensions between two nations and bring them close.

Pakistan is known for its amazing music. We should not be deprived of that

Babul Supriyo...Abhijeet? Why is it that all these out-of-work singers are the only ones showing patriotism.

I don't agree with him. But this point, that if India and Pak have tension at border, should we protest about it by including the artists, can be discussed at least. It is not stupid to think that. I think that POV supports freedom of art in peace time but not in war time. We aren't at war...yet. But I think it is okay for someone to question if people from that country should be offered employment here. Can art really be separated like that from politics? Will the artists be given a free pass even if we went to war with them? Even if some terror attacks happened in India? What do the families of soldiers feel about this, if at all?
I know what the politically correct opinion is. And mine is that as well, except I would like this topic to be debated. I don't think we should dismiss someone's opinion just like that. Because there must be others who think similarly, they should be able to talk about it. Nobody should have to feel stifled for the fear fo getting bullied.

What is this suppose to achieve in regards to Pakistan/India tensions.

Do the people fighting on the frontline and terrorists organising attacks give a damn about banning in the entertainment industry.

Do they?

Are u kidding me?? The families of the fallen soldiers do not care if the artists from Pakistan are banned,,,,Does anyone think that a widowed wife or the kids who lost their Dad or Mom...care if a Rahet Fateh is singing for a movie or not?? Seriously???
I mean its OK to have a debate and all but doing all this in the name of giving comfort to the families of the soldiers is a mockery of their plight...what is anyone going to achieve by that...what will the soldiers's families achieve by that...even after all that happened the PM of India sends birthday message to the Pak PM...come on...if something should hurt someone's sentiments its those things...not the artists...they just entertain...of course I would say ban the ones that speak against India...but why everyone when our elected officials are always trying to mend the relations with Pakistan...our movies release and make money in Pakistan...we play cricket matches with Pakistan..we do trade with Pakistan...stop all that first...don't make the artists an easy target when there are bigger fishes to fry...and no once again...our soldiers and their families deserve better care and much more than the stupidity of banning Pak artists...they don't care about that and nothing is going to stop the pain that they have to face everyday...so people should stop using these families to support their ridiculous demands.
