I think that POV supports freedom of art in peace time but not in war time. We aren't at war...yet. But I think it is okay for someone to question if people from that country should be offered employment here. Can art really be separated like that from politics? Will the artists be given a free pass even if we went to war with them? Even if some terror attacks happened in India? What do the families of soldiers feel about this, if at all?

I know what the politically correct opinion is. And mine is that as well, except I would like this topic to be debated. I don't think we should dismiss someone's opinion just like that. Because there must be others who think similarly, they should be able to talk about it. Nobody should have to feel stifled for the fear fo getting bullied.

Woah! a first at IF for me 👏

Ok didnt want to comment as I have said enough on the topic...
But IMO Babul Supriyo has a point. Bollywood producers promised not to utilize Pakistani artists for their projects. So they should stick to it. I find it unfair that singers like Atif and Rahat are coolly part of pretty much every BW film now. While actors like Fawad, Mahira, Saba, Ali Zafar, Sajal Ali remain banned. So basically what is visible onscreen is facing the brunt while what is not seen onscreen its business as usual. Even people like Ajay Devgan who promised not to work with Pakistani artists are working with them now. It shows hypocrisy on India's side.
I also feel that if there is a ban/severance of ties it should extend to all aspects - trade, sports, arts. But right now we only see tokenism of no bilateral ties between India and Pakistan in sports and ban of Pakistani actors in BW. India still plays Pakistan in international forums which includes giving visas to Pakistani teams of different sports when an international tournament is held in India. Even recently there was a Pakistani delegation at an entrepreneurship summit held few months ago.
However having said all this I do not support war and violence in any form. So diplomatic talks should resume if that helps bring down the violence. Statistics have proven that the much maligned 'Aman ki Asha' actually had a lesser toll than what we have paid in the last 1.5 years since the Uri attacks. Also humanitarian efforts like giving medical visas should continue. It shouldnt be arbitrary though like how Sushma Swaraj hands over visas on Twitter. India should have a proper process in place to give medical visas.
As for feelings of soldiers families. I think we cant speak for everyone...everyone feels differently. I have seen people who want peace and those who want war from among the soldiers families. I would rather prefer peace than war.

They say that art and artists don't have and shouldn't have boundaries, but then what about this hypocrisy? This video below was posted by a Pakistani celeb Hamza ali abbasi who very openly supports the separation of Kashmir.. constantly urging people to raise voices for the same.. If this ban is unfair then don't u think artists should clearly stay away from such political scenarios? They have problem giving condolence to the URI victims but openly state that they stand for the Kashmir separation.
Many famous Paki celebs like Humayun Saeed, Maya Ali, Ayesha Khan, Momina Mustehsan etc. can be seen in the video declaring their support

I think even people like Rahat and Atif should refrain from working in BW like Fawad, Mahira, Ali Zafar etc have. Both of them dont need BW and are doing well with their concerts and stuff.

But isn't music supposed to join us together? Unite than divide?

Why are artists like himself and Abhijeet are constantly trying to divide the art of music?

Because in India, Cricket has a bigger craze than movies and music. Can India give such a big sacrifice for the soldiers, in a country where Cricket is the biggest religion? If not, then all this patriotic talk is just badi badi baatein, aur wada paw khaate.

India-Pak cricket matches are seen as competitive sports , almost like a war .. Not a collaboration like the arts .. Every time India crushes Pak , it calls for a huge celebration ..

So, I don't see how the two can be compared with each other ..
