Found something in Lootera's script

Long back one of my friends had emailed me the original script of Lootera, since I really really really love that film.
Today finally had an opportunity to glance through it.
I started by searching for any deleted scenes, dialogues in the second half and I found something very fascinating towards the climax.

Unlike the film, the original script doesn't end with Pakhi smilingly gazing at the tree of hope. It continues with the Inspector, who comes to meet Pakhi after fatally shooting Varun, and before he can tell her anything, she tells him Varun has left, he ran away. Observing her smiling, happy face, the inspector agrees and doesn't tell her the truth of Varun's death.

Right after this there's another scene wherein she visits the Chandratal lake of Varun's wish list, wondering, when he too will visit the lake? And hopes to meet him one day, as she would wait for him.

I don't mind how the film ended, but I find this so achingly beautiful - like the rest of the film. In her new optimism for life, that has been given to her by Varun, Pakhi earnestly and genuinely wishes and hopes for a happiness that doesn't exist in reality.

On one hand it's nice to see her moving on from the vagaries of changing seasons and falling leaves. But on the other hand, her heart's still holding onto a false glimmer.

What do you guys think of this? Which ending do you prefer? The open-ended one that has been given to us, or the one from the original script.

ALSO there's an omitted dialogue from their last conversation, where she asks him the reason for her to continue living, to which he says, to write, to write a lot and tell the world about the ungrateful people residing in it... referring to himself 💔

Bad at uploading images here but I will try to post screenshots

Damn this ending is sadder💔

Her waiting for him at the lake thinking he is alive would have been painful to watch.

Thank you for sharing this.

Totally. I was completely taken by surprise while reading.
The decision of the inspector to not tell her the truth as that will further shatter her, makes me wonder if it really was good for her in the long run. So achingly tragic!
