As for Padmavat, in real life I know many people who liked the movie and many people who disliked the movie, and from what I know views are divided about it online too, just because something does well at the box office doesn't mean it is the best movie ever, so many people go to the cinemas just because they are bored, and in this case so many went to the cinemas just because of the hype the karni sena created, It ended up working in the films' favour.

Some people here are arguing that they are extremely analytical and love cinema and normal people are not like that, this is silly, stop thinking u guys are some out of this world amazing people who are very intelligent and passionate, many real life people know what good acting is and what good cinema techniques are, they just don't care enough to feel superior about their "skills" and regularly voice their views on online platforms.

Lolz, what's wrong in saying that we are passionate about cinema??😆

So you think that people who don't have knowledge, or don't care about technicalities of filmmaking are not intelligent?? Now that is some gross generalisation.

Yes, there are people who don't have any knowledge about good acting or cinema techniques. And Majority definitely don't care, otherwise only Salman movies had not been doing Blockbuster business. I'm not saying that he's a bad actor. He's good, but there are definitely better out there in Bollywood, and his movies are not the best out of all.

That doesn't mean those people are not intelligent. They are just not interested in such things. They have interest in other fields like sports, Science, art, poetry, politics etc. Let's not act like people know about anything and everything. Knowledge is like an Ocean, we can't have it all.

There are more important things in life other than just discussing Cinema. And discussing or analyzing movies is not a benchmark of intelligence, like you think some people are claiming here.

Which part of reality is reality according to you? My dad changing the channel when he finds the hero of the movie is Ranveer is a reality, my mom finding Ranveer's idiosyncrasies on TVCs amusing is another reality, my sister not caring about Ranveer's movie release or it flopped/made money is a reality, my friend admiring all naked emperors is a reality.

Yes in certain aspects it is. In real life friends dont fight over their fav stars to the extent of abusing or insulting family or even disturbing their friendship. Real life people dont care much about BO status and nor do they follow it. If they have watched a movie and liked it then its fine. Word of mouth matters a lot and not reviews. Yes star appeal exists and draws in crowd. Real life fans are more open to criticism of their fav star and dont defend him/her endlessly. But must say some of the posts here are good and put light on newer aspects of the movie or star. Gossip or blinds are solved here and fans do follow their fav to a whole new level. News about stars is shared here pretty fast.

When I mean intelligent I mean intelligent about cinema, not in general so you need to calm down. As for Salman movies doing well? Like I said a lot of people go to the cinemas for entertainment and for the heck of it doesn't mean they don't know what good cinema is, just because something is boring or someone is ugly doesn't automatically make it good. A bajrangi bhaijaan can very well be termed a better film in terms of all aspects than a lootera. It is about opinion. Just because one is on the net doesn't mean they have valid opinions.

For being intelligent at any field, you need to be passionate about that particular thing. I don't think whole Indian population is passionate about movies. Like you said, some people go to movies just because they are bored. Not because they are passionate.

So you think only Salman movies are entertaining?? There are many entertaining movies made in Bollywood. Why only Salman movies do well?? You yourself said that just because a movie.does well at box office, doesn't mean it's the best. 'Good' or 'bad' cinema, or anything is subjective. But knowing about cinema techniques is another thing. I know many people who don't know the technical terms like screenplay, cinematography or lyrics. People who are not educated and do odd jobs. I'm not insulting them, just telling that such people also exist.

No one was claiming here to be superior or intelligent, just because they are saying that they are passionate about cinema.

One more thing, you are talking about valid opinions. But in your first post you were dissing TV fandoms for analyzing stupid shows. So you think their opinions aren't valid?

Ever heard of pseudo intellects? Yes I do judge people who ship actors and troll actors based on their personal life which pretty much sums up TV fandoms on the net.

Maybe they know it, maybe they don't'. But definitely not ALL know it. The word pseudo-intellectual got it's existence because of the word intellectual. Not all who write essays on movies are pseudo-intellectuals. So you really think that opinions of TV fandoms on internet don't matter, but people who don't come online, their opinions are very much valid?? Honestly, there is nothing called valid or invalid opinions. Opinions are subjective, and should be respected.

This forum is not out of touch with reality but certainly represent a very very small demographic segment of total movie viewers and opinions are influenced by many factors here.

1. Demographic profile of viewers are different here from local viewers.

2. Here most are hard core fans , so also develop groups which influence their choice so also biases about movie and stars.

3. Most importantly baring few members here or online fans in other social media , no one discuss/ debate such a way about movies 😆 or becoming influence factor while making a decision to watch a movie.
