Good does not always mean commercial success. Whether on this forum or in real life, many films that will be critically acclaimed turn out to be box-office duds. The Shawshank Redemption considered one of the Hollywood greats and featuring on many a favorite movie lists was a box office failure. Andaz Apna Apna a beloved slapstick comedy was a major flop upon its release.

Salman movies are trashed here but they turned out the highest grossers of the year 😆

Highest grossing does not mean good films. Whether on this forum or in real life, many films will mint money based on premise or star power but are technically terrible films. All Transformers made a ton of money but the later ones were exceptionally shoddy. I myself love films like Wanted and Dabangg but would never praise them to be good films.

Ranbir's movies for example are hailed as masterpieces here but they don't find audience anywhere else, isn't this weird, or its becoz all the members here are NRI ??

Do you have a problem with subjective and individual taste? Would you rather live on Camazotz where everyone thinks and acts in the exact same way with no diversity? Does it bother you when someone you dislike is loved? Does it bother you when someone you like is loathed?

There is no real world or forum world. There are just people and a diversity of opinions. And no matter where you are if you take a random statistically significant sample and plot the opinions you will get a distribution curve.

Forums just happen to be a slice of the real world comprised of people who desire the platform to express opinions. And the most dedicated and passionate express their opinion most loudly and frequently.

You just have to cut through the noise and realize that the same fan making 100 posts about their love or hate is not 100 data points, but one data point.

Red contradicts the Blue .. 😆 .. Or to put it differently , statements in red make the ones in blue more applicable to you rather than the TM ..

What makes you think that your definition of good cinema is THE definition of good cinema ?

Sure ,one fan on this forum making 100s of posts is one data point but what about the millions outside spending their money on the movies that they like & making it a success ? .. If data is all you are after , then by all accounts , movies that make money are the only good movies - no exceptions .. Artsy/critically acclaimed films are left to be praised by one fan making 100s of posts on an online platform such as this one .. Thus , validating the TM's argument ..
