Raid box office collection day 18: Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz's film remains stable, collects Rs 98 crore

Raid will enter the Rs 100 crore by Thursday at the box office

After showing good growth over its third weekend, Ajay Devgn's Raid witnesses a massive dip on its third Monday at the box office. The period crime thriller raked in Rs 1.03 crore and now stands with the grand total of Rs 98 crore. Despite facing stiff competition from Baaghi 2 and Hichki, Ajay Devgn's film has managed to hold well at the ticket windows. The film will cross the Rs 100 crore mark by tomorrow at the box office. Made on the budget of Rs 45 crore including promotion and advertising, Raid has already turned out to be a huge success at the box office.

When we spoke to our Trade expert Akshaye Rathi, Exhibitor-Distributor, to decode Ajay Devgn's success mantra, he pointed out, "Ajay's credibility coupled with good content brings the audience into the cinemas and this helps in the film's success. He is also a risk taker. Ajay as a star has done this from the very start of his career. He has done films like Gangaajal, Raajneeti, Raincoat and so many more, which were different from the regular, commercial fare, back in those days. Ajay Devgn took bold risks and these risks have always paid off. Shivaay might not have done what was expected from it, but Ajay attempted to push the envelope of action and visuals through it. Despite entering into its third week and facing stiff competition from Hichki and Baaghi 2, Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz starrer Raid has managed to remain steady at the box office. In fact, the period crime thriller has earned decent collections in the international markets as well. Till now the film has grossed Rs 127.40 crore (nett Rs 98 crore) in India and Rs 23 at the overseas box office. It now stands with the grand total of Rs 150.40 crore at the ticket windows.

Raid is based on true events which occurred in Uttar Pradesh and has been inspired by real-life Income Tax raids which were held by Indian Revenue Services back in the '80s and 90's. The movie is expected to make it to the third spot of the 100 crore club after Padmaavat and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Sulagna Panigrahi and Pushpa Joshi in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Rajkumar Gupta, who previously helmed films like Aamir, No One Killed Jessica and Ghanchakkar.
