Ajay Devgn's Raid grosses over Rs 90 crore mark at the worldwide box office

Director Rajkumar Gupta's Raid is turning out to be a huge money-spinner at the box office due to its strong content and amazing star performances. The period crime thriller has managed to attract a huge chunk of the audience in the cinema halls and the collections are enough to prove that. Till now, Raid has grossed Rs 78.21 crore (nett Rs 58.39 crore) in India and Rs 12.50 crore in the international circuits. It now stands with the grand total of Rs 90.71 crore.

Raid got a wide release of 3400 screens nationwide. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film also features Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles. The film is directed by Rajkumar Gupta, who previously helmed films like Aamir, No One Killed Jessica and Ghanchakkar. It is produced under the banners of Panorama Studios and T-Series. Despite not being a commercial potboiler, the film performed well at the ticket and one of the primary reasons is definitely the star-power of Ajay Devgn. The film received rave reviews from all the critics. Our critic Ankita Chaurasia, gave the film three stars and praised Ajay and Saurabh's performance and said, "Ajay brings a lot of depth to the character, what with his brooding eyes and deep baritone. He lends Amey an air of reality. If not for him, a character as righteous would be too good to be true. Saurabh Shukla, as his arch-nemesis, plays his part so well, he seems deplorable. But there comes a point in the film when he also seems vulnerable, which, thanks to a nuanced performance, comes through. Raid VS Drishyam VS Baadshaho: Ajay Devgn's Box Office Report Card!

Raid (10.04 crores) opened better than Drishyam (8 crores) but was less than Baadshaho (12.03 crores).

Raid starring Ajay Devgn has been continuing its amazing run at the box office. The movie has been inching closer to the 60 crore mark within its 1st week. It now stands at the grand total of 58.39 crores and its first weekend seems to be in the same range as Baadshaho.

Raid (10.04 crores) opened better than Drishyam (8 crores) but was less than Baadshaho (12.03 crores). When it comes to the 1st weekend, Raid collected 41.01 crores, Drishyam had collected 30.03 crores whereas Baadshaho leads with 43.30 crores.

Raid is about to finish its first week at the box office. In six days the movie has earned a total of 58.39 crores. Drishyams first week at the box office was 34.08 crores but the superb word of mouth helped it to trend well during its lifetime. On the other hand, Baadshaho ended its 1st week by earning 64.14 crores.

Lifetime collections of Baadshaho were severely affected by the poor trend post its 1st week. It ended up on a losing side by collecting 78.02 crores. Whereas Drishyam did magic by earning 76.16 crores which was more than double of its 1st week.

Ajay Devgn's Raid, based on a true story about money laundering, released on last Friday. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles. Ajay essays the role of an Income Tax officer hailing from Uttar Pradesh. The movie will face some competition from Rani Mukerji's Hichki this week.

Raid box-office collection Day 6: Ajay Devgn's film maintains its strong grip, total earnings Rs 58.39 crore

Raid, starring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles, has become a phenomenal success at the box-office. Maintaining its strong grip, the period crime thriller, on Wednesday, added Rs 5.36 crore more to its kitty. Its total collection, after a 6-day run, stands at Rs 58.39 crore. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the figures on his Twitter account. Below, see his tweet:

Raid, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, earlier opened to a decent Rs 10.04 crore on Friday. The film had a healthy first weekend as it went on to mint over Rs 41 crore. In weekdays too, it didn't lose its grip on the box-office and collected Rs 6.26 crore and Rs 5.76 crore on Monday and Tuesday respectively. (Movie Review: Raid)

Going by the current trend, the film is expected to perform well for many days to come. At least till March 30, when Baaghi 2 will hit the screens, it should be a comfortable ride for Raid.

The film, jointly produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series Films, hit the screens on March 16. It mostly received positive reviews from critics across the country. The word-of-mouth too has been in its favour.
