Wouldn't it be better to distribute pads to women who can not afford packaged pads.

Ask for the cost to be reduced and more affordable.

Rather than taking pictures holding pads at random locations.

What are they trying to promote here?

The idea is good to create awareness and stars do get noticed. General public will definitely pick it up. But the girls and women needing it most may not really gain much unless these are made easily available and are of low cost yet hygienic. The stars can go ahead and distribute too but then most of them are stingy. Khud ke kapde, make up ke paise toh producers se lete hai.

They are breaking the stigma around period ...
It's important that people and specifically girls understand that there is nothing to be ashamed of .

That is not even what the film is about.

It's about a man who made pads more affordable for women in rural areas and the disadvantaged.

Women using pads is not a new phenomenon. Before that it would be cloth.

Celebs taking pictures of pads is not promoting anything.

Actually quite stupid because instead of opening a pad and taking selfies then throwing it away.

They could actually have donated those pads so that they can be used for what they are meant for.

I agree.

It should be distributed to the girls of rural areas. They can't even access to sanitary napkins, it's sad.

The film is also about the stigma : before getting married and discovering his wife uses old rags as sanitary pads, Anurachalam knew nothing about periods ...

He faced a lot of backlash for willing to create more affordable pads.
People refered to him as mad and pervert.
His wife left him because she was too ashamed of what he was doing.
The film is also about celebrating Padman for rising above the stigma and being brave enough to see this through.
