I think this forum rides too much on nostalgia. When aish was at her prime, she was always bashed for being plastic but now that she has gone past that phase, she's better than Deepika? Someone who actually IS a very good actress alongside being beautiful.

I've always had a soft spot for Aish, I don't know why and she is the epitome of beauty but DEEPIKA IS the better performer and that's all there is to it.

But this poll is about Aish in Jodha and Deepika in Padmavati. Yes, Deepika is a better actress overall. But It also depends on the amount of role one had in a particular movie and type of role one had. I can't pass any judgement on Deepika for padmavati as I haven't seen the film, but Aish was good as Jodha, she had the right amount of grace, coyness, strength, and just pretty much immersed you into her character. So I think people can choose her rightfully as a better performer/actor if they think that she is better. If she was laughably bad in this movie, then I would understand your comment, but she was definitely not bad.

Ash was a memorabe Jodha, shes a director's actress so she acted very well in that movie, she also had fabulous chemistry with Hrithik as Akbar

Haven't seen padmavaat. But Aish was a flower ot in JA. It's not one of her stronger performances.

Jodhaa Akbar was a critically acclaimed film unlike Padmaavat. Besides, Ash had a lot more to do in the film, so it's an unfair comparison IMO.

Having said that, no one does period films better than Aishwarya, her beauty, grace, expressions and dialogue delivery is perfect for that era. Deepika is better suited to modern characters like Cocktail or Ram Leela. She isn't that expressive and her dialogue delivery is weak for period characters.

better performance, expressions and better dialogue delivery.

Deepu lacked that along with screen time.

Glaze in eyes does not equal great acting.

Deepika was as good as a show-piece everything came together for jodha akbar the story/setting/chemistry etc overall its a good film unlike padmavat..

She and shahid had zero chemistry and no doubt her wooden acting was a big turn off

It is Aishwarya for me. Wish Deepika had more to do than just look beautiful. Even that movie was so much better in terms of storytelling and direction.
