I think Kumar sanu has given more melodious, evergreen songs in his period. He is not active anymore. But his popularity still remains intact for his songs are most searched in Google trends and Youtube even today. IMO he is more popular and liked singer than Udit and Sonu.

To his credit, Sonu too has rendered many hit and memorable tracks. However he has embroiled himself in controversies time and again and that has dented his reputation and he is not very much active too.

Sonu Nigam: Have proved his versatility time and time again , he was by far the most versatile vocalist of 1990's when kumar sanu was ruiling with similar kind of songs again and again... sonu sang a song like satrange re from dil se entirely different and most difficult song , yeh dil dewana dewana hai yeh dil from pardes, akhiyon se goli mare larki kamal diffent leuge to romantic songs like mujhe raat din bas mujhe chahate ho to his pop 90's album dewana , yaad , jaan , kismat all were blockbusters to typical nadeem sharavan anu malik songs to ...sonu nigam had alot of varierty in his work he have sang a song like jeene ke hain char din to bole churiyaan bole kangna to kehdo na you are my soniya to sau dard hain sau rahatien ... he kept on changing his singing style with time and he succeded ...the reason he dont sing active today is not that he become outdated but the business got changed today pritam say i will go to sonu nigam only when i am 100 percent sure that this song has to be with him ...else pritam make 20 different singers sing one song and select for this purpose sonu rejected gerwa song from dilwale ...sonu said at this age i dont want to be reduced as option for someone ...i guess in 90's singers netiher kumar sanu nor abhijeet and udit narayan got as much fame as sonu nigam because sonu was not limited to filmy playback music he had alot of things on his credit pop albums , classical albums , ghazal album ... Verdict : Versatile , sing in differnt style ...
