Technically, Akki announced first, so he is not obligated to move.

But here, Padma makers have no choice, but to release it asap coz of mounting costs. They are not clashing deliberately. If they don't release asap, some other objection will crop up . They got CBFC certificate and they chose the nearest date.

Tina was supporting Padmavat, asking everyone to support it and all that blah, now when the real test comes to support the movie, she is saying that its unfortunate that there is clash and Padmavat should have chosen another date !! How inconsiderate is that . Where is unity and solidarity now?

Nobody runs charity in Bollywood ... Padman producers are obliged to do the best thing for the interest of their movie only.
They've been promoting the film for few weeks now !
Both Akki and Sonam have other engagements : can't adapt their schedules just for Padmavati sake ...
What happened to Padmavati is very unfortunate but it shouldnt't be an excuse to sabotage other movies.

I don't think we can compare what happened to Padmavat to any movie

I have zero love for him but Bhansali was jumped in the street. That never happened to Karan or Rohit Shetty or Kabir Khan or srk or Salman

The film wasn't just protested against the release date was put on hold. Again that's never happened to any film in recent memory

That being said Akshay doesn't have to move. Both films can release. But this notion that Padmavat team deserves this is off putting. I don't what the actors/directors did to anybody that thy deserve street attacks or release being put on hold 😲 😲

I think it will be very unfair to ask Padman to move. What is their fault in this, why should they compromise? It is a small budget film, moving will only add to their costs.
Both the movie have credible reason to release on the that date. Padmaavat will have higher screen count as it is releasing in Telugu and Tamil too. Wish for both the movie to do well.

I don't think anybody said they deserved what was happening but when one doesn't support others in time of need it's surprising that no-one would actively support them.

What happened during Dilwale and Ae Dil Hai Muskhil was worse imo because some people were attacked for who they were (religion, nationallity) or for their ideas.

Being jumped isn't the only form violence, SRK and Fawad were also victim of violence.

They told SRK who is very much a proud Indian to "go back" to Pakistan, they linked him to terrorism and insulted his family, they did the same to Fawad and in order to have the movie release without much fuss, the producers decided to sacrifice him by cutting off his role and butchering the movie.

Padmavaat wouldn't be in this mess if the team had bend beforehand. They stayed strong and had the release compromise and all this for what ? They made some change to the movie, changed the title...

What is unfair is having some people hinting to the fact that Akshay is somewhat please because of the Bakth when from the get go, he didn't have anything to do with this movie and its release.

What is unfair is having people acting as if the Pad Man team us jeopardising Padmavaat release when they chose this date first and also have costs linked to promotions and their release.

If the Padmavaat team chose this date, it might be that they knew what they were doing.

I said both films can clash and that's fine

But on Monday let me tell you to move to a different country

Then on Tuesday let me try and break your arm

Then you tel me what's worse

nobody said Akki should move to make space for Padmavaat, even SLB didn't ask 😊
you do realise that Padmavaat has no choice but release the movie as soon as possible and in a holiday periode thats a plus

as I said nobody asked for Akki's support, Padmavaat will collect more money, will have more screenes

Padmavaat is the bigger movie, Akki will get some hype eventually 😉

There is no need for such generosity. They should both release on the same day if that is when they are scheduled to release. Everybody needs to make money at the end of the day. If people want to, they will watch both films. Lagaan and Gaddar both did great back in 2001 when they released together, as far as I remember. I'm sure there are more examples I am not aware of.

lol..why would akki move his movie. SLB and his team PR backfired, SLB was the one who spread news that his Padma and khilji have a naughty dream scene.
if anyone its Padma team who should move and let akki has solo release.

u know what I hope padmavati release soon and bombs, and the case gets closed.
ASAP.

Everyone can release their movie whenever they want. Nobody owns any date though it really doesn't help to constantly clash and put the industry in turmoil which is something Bhansali has loved. It's been a strategy for him for a long time now because it increases interest and publicity even though in the long run it's hurtful to the industry to behave this way.

They ideally should have released it a week earlier or later than Padman and saved everyone some headaches. But that whole team is detestable anyway. They enjoyed and benefitted when others were facing troubles and having rocks thrown at their cars and facing protests and having release problems.

Not that I have any love for Akshay's cynical deshbhakt tactics either. This guy has tacitly supported the hatred and divisions the ruling party has caused resulting in nightmares for people of different religions and castes and constant insults like deshdrohi being lobbed at them. He has benefitted so much from the whisper campaigns that go on from facebook to whatsapp to the outright street violence.

The only thing unprecedented about this clash is that the right wing has no easy enemies this time so they'll be split in who they have to support during this Padman and Padmavati fiasco.
