Did people say Sridevi n Sharmila Tagore 😆 LOL seriously...
Sridevi can't be called a regular actress...no one knows if she ever sees in a film after MOM..and mom was declared a flop by BOI because of its budget..

n Sharmila tagore wasn't much known as a huge commercial heroine..she had her share of success and hits just like actresses today having flower pot roles do...

Vidya meant saying..that generally its the norm that married actresses dont' deliver HITS..even if u put Sridevi's example it was only an exception as both her next films PULI and MOM flopped..

Tumhari Sulu is a success already. most of the trade sites hv declared it a HIT...and even BOI called it average btw its still in the same zone in Bareilly ki Barfi according to the same site..so if that film being called a success why isn't TS..its definitely a HIT..and vidya deserves all accolades

So Sridevi, the great Sharmila Tagore, Kajol, MD(she had Devdas after her marriage) Moushami Chatterjee, Rakhee all of them are not worth mentioning!?!

Certainly mentioning Jaya B would be very laughable

And Sharmila Tagore was a very successful actress (not saying she was No.1, IDK about that) consistently gave hit movies even after her marriage & childbirth and she did many heroine oriented roles too

She could do very glamorous roles or conservative village belle or all suffering Bharatiya Nari, looked good in all kinds of outfits including swimwear even after childbirth

Jaya B did heroine oriented roles before and after her wedding which were also successful

Hema Malini gave a few hits after her marriage...

(How many of VB's movie have been huge commercial hits after her marriage?)

One thing these actresses couldn't compete with VB and today's stars - hyping and self promotion

It's not entirely their fault, that's how the business works now

Those who are bringing Sri, Madhuri, Sharmila.. none of them were trolled, mocked and written off by people and the industry for being a married aunty who has no career left and should quit films. Well, Vidya was and she now has every right to boast about her success with Tumhari Sulu.
And Sharmila, Sridevi and Madhuri are old actresses, the audience back then was diferent.Madhuri gave two duds like Aaja Nachle and Gulaab Gang, Aishwarya gave Sarabjit and Jazbaa, Kareena gave Udta Punjab, Sridevi gave English Vinglish and Mom which were average. But none of them had to bear the brunt of dirty press about weight, etc.

Well done Vidya. Stay the same. I'm glad she has accepted that her earlier films were missing the connect and hopefully she gets back to choosing better scripts.

Then VB could say that she gave a hit after her marriage despite being overweight thus setting an example for full figured gals who are mocked for their figures instead of saying
'now bcz of her it has been proved even married women can give hits'

Again, have all the movies Vidya Balan did after marriage been successful? No duds?

Isn't this her first hit after 6 or 7 flops? And it's not her first or even second movie releasing after her wedding, right?

(None of them were made fun for weight? Maybe bcz they were not overweight?)

Edit: Does Kajol matters? IDK if she's older or belongs to current gen

I don't know about the older actresses because that was way before my time but I think Kajol and MD's hits don't have the same value because they had big male stars in them.

Vidya did it on her own. Even single younger actresses have a hard time getting a hit when it's just them in the movie. Look at Aaja Nachle or We are Family - women leading films generally have a tough time.

LOL this is hilarious just to prove Vidya wrong people r bringing sharmila jaya..who couldn't salvage anything..and jaya bachchan's career has been a total second fiddle to amitabh bachchan whether in and out. she wasn't even popular like REKHA...
ppl should be happy coz in these tymes she's actually proving a good example..let's talk abt current actresses...no one was born in early 80's to witness how grt did jb, sridevi...n hema malini..

lets talk abt this generation...has any actress done well...count even mads or kajol they couldn't give a single hit on their own...
NO so what she's saying does hold importance...

ppl r not realizing that's she not given a HIT out of a bogus film blind fans should see that..the success of TL should encourage more filmmakers to make content driven films..and then ppl complain bollywood doesn't make good films huh

By the same token it can be said people are trying to bring Sharmila and Jaya down in order to make VB look better

Lol... hilarious... rofl...

VB says "Tumahari Sulu proved that married actresses can score hits"

Like she is the first actress to do this ever

I was saying she is not the first or only one... Many others had success after marriage doing female oriented roles.

And this her first hit after string of flops... Sri's first movie after marriage was a hit too and female oriented but we are not supposed to mention her here

(Jaya might be obscured by AB now but in her peak not so, she was bigger star than him at one point)

Again I don't want to drag actors from older gen, but why is their value and career being belittled again again, just to make VB's look better

Vidya's star value hasn't increased at all despite the film doing well...so is this really a success story?
