The argument that Varun and Alia's success is largely because of their talent and acting power, star power etc. Sorry that is not true.
Yes - this is true that people like Tushar Kapoor, Esha Deol, etc failed. They failed miserably. But why did they fail? Yes their parents managed to get them some work , the name worked in getting them roles in films.
But was anyone managing their career the way Karan Johar was? Was any producer or director working hard behind the scenes TO CREATE WORK FOR THEM? Karan Johar has worked tirelessly to "create" films for his entourage. We all know Highway, Dear Zindagi and now this new film with Megna Gulzar is all constructed for Alia.
As for Varun, other than Badlapur (which I still think is a fluke) all of his projects have been "safe" commercial films that are guaranteed success. If people think that a blockbuster copy and paste film from the 90's is better than a well-made underperforming original piece...than so be it. I personally would take a Lootera over a Judwa-2 anyday.
The truth is no star kid before Varun/Alia has had such aggressive backup. All star kids have had help, but nobody has had THIS LEVEL OF HELP! Abhishek did for a brief period of time (yuva to guru) and even he was doing well in that time period.
I am not saying Varun/Alia are bad people
I am not saying Varun/Alia are horrible actors ( they are extremely overrated though)
I am not saying Varun/Alia do not work hard.
I am not saying Varun/Alia are committing a crime
I am not saying Varun/Alia don't deserve their opportunities or success.
I am also not saying that whatever I am saying are facts. THIS IS MY OPINION. MINE.
All I am saying is NEPOTISM IS THERE. Whether we all like it or not, IT IS THERE. They would no nowhere without. So I'd really appreciate if I can stop being called various names like "bimbo" just because I choose to credit their success to nepotism. I don't care if I say it in every single topic, where I feel the need to say it...I will.
