Kangana's ambitious project Manikarnika may have hit a rough patch

Her last release, Simran, did not set the cash registers ringing and divided opinion among film critics too. We are sure that Kangana was hoping to bounce back with her next, Kamal Jain's Manikarnika, the biopic of Rani Lakshmibai. Let's not forget that Kangana is yet to taste box-office success after the 2015 release Tanu Weds Manu 2, after which Rangoon and Katti Batti sank at the box-office.

But rumours in the industry claim that the film is on shaky ground. Kangana along with co-star Ankita Lokhande had trooped to Hyderabad but the schedule had to be cut short. Reason- a few of the financiers who were backing the film have decided to go slow with their contributions.

So, after twiddling their thumbs in Hyderabad for a while, Kangana came back and is hoping for a revival soon. While she is waiting for some good news, Ankita, who will make her Bollywood debut with the film, too seems to have been caught in this muddle.

We are sure Kangana Ranaut is hoping to soon make news for box-office success rather than her personal feuds. We also feel that her publicity campaign for Simran was wrongly directed towards her animosity with Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Pancholi.

Rewind: Manikarnika even started on a wrong foot after Ketan Mehta sent a legal notice to Kangana for allegedly hijacking his biopic on Rani Lakshmi Bai.

In an interview with SpotboyE.com, Ketan Mehta had said: "The film was happening. I fell ill in the middle and was hospitalised. When I recovered and returned home, I got the shock of my life. I learnt that Kangana was making Rani Of Jhansi with Kamal Jain as the producer.

Well, it is a long way to go and given the whispers emanating from the industry, it is not going to be an easy road for Kangana and Manikarnika.
