It is all fictional (tanki. Writers, poets, directors have their own version or imagination with their creative liberty create images. My history book had a very different Maharani Padmvati from what you have posted.

The paintings in the book depicts a Chinese looking woman. Heard in real life she was Sri Lankan? Artistic licence!

The one you posted is not a real pic either.. its a painting.. truth is, none of us know what Rani Padkini looked like

As for beauty, the definition of that differs for individuals.. So i dont get the hooplah

Yes you are right. Padmini was a Sri Lankan princess who married a Rajput king Ratan Singh. He won her through Swayamvar which was the common marriage practice in those days. Srilankan women are not known to be very fair like Rajputs and that could be the reason SLB has made the charcater dusky looking.

Devdas is not real time story it's a novel. I never read about devdas in my school subjects social studies -history or as a story in English or Telugu ( my mother tongue).
