Varun Dhawan's October: Here's why Banita Sandhu was chosen as the female lead

Banita Sandhu has been cast opposite Varun Dhawan in Shoojit Sircar's October.

Varun Dhawan's collaboration with Shoojit Sircar in October has grabbed the right kind of buzz. When it comes to the leading lady to be paired opposite Varun, the actor shared a blurry photo of his #October girl.

Now, it is finally revealed that UK based Banita Sandhu has been confirmed to star opposite Varun.

When Shoojit was asked about casting Banita by a leading daily, he got candid and said that he had Banita in mind for the movie as he felt she could fit the character right.

"We did look at other actors [for Banita's part], but then one day, I called her and told her that I may be casting her in the film and that she should start doing workshops," Shoojit said.

The filmmaker added, "But slowly, Juhi (Chaturvedi), Ronnie (Lahiri) and I zeroed in on her and were sure that, She is the girl we should go for'. My casting director also felt that she was the right person for this character."

On why he chose to work with a newcomer when he could have worked with an established actress instead, Shoojit stated, "It has never mattered to me if I am working with established or non-established actors. The demands of the script is all that matters. The script required a certain face, vulnerability and innocence, so we did many auditions."

If you see Varun Dhawan's beautiful new co-star accompanying him on dinner dates and movies, don't jump to conclusions. Director Shoojit Sircar has instructed Varun to spend "as much time as possible with Banita Sandhu.

Varun of course is more than happy to oblige. A very close friend of his who happens to be a very attractive co-star says, "Varun makes heroines feel very comfortable. There is no hint of crossing the line since he's in a relationship (with Natasha Dalal).

Contrary to reports Shoojit Sircar's new film cryptically titled October doesn't have a limited space for its leading lady. Sources say October is an intense love story portraying love in dark shades never seen before.

According to a source, "It's as intense as the love relationship in the Telugu hitArjun
Reddy without the sex, drugs and alcohol. Varun's character will be shown to be so high on love he won't need any intoxication. And the girl is with Varun in every frame.

While Shoojit is not willing to divulge details about the love story on-record it can be said without a shred of doubt thatOctober would be a love story unlike any other seen in Hindi cinema.

It's a very important role and we've chosen the girl who we think is pitch-perfect for the part. Banita Sandhu is from the Wales. I chose her because I am very confident about her abilities. She is brilliant.
