Too many remixes in current films is a sign of the pathetic lack of creativity in music directors.
When they cannot think of original tunes, they just take an old hit song and remix it
The remixes of the 90s were not used in films, they were separate albums

Agreed. And I feel it detracts from the film itself. Nothing against remix s but they should probably be a part of the album or in the film album as a bonus track or something. Not as a primary track between the hero and the heroine

Nope. It's just to rehash something people liked before when producers have no originality.

I would have no problem except the remixes are so so bad and forgettable. I used to think the early 2000s remixes were meh but people could at least dance to them. Now, they're either the same as old version or worse the original.

I agree. Would love to actually see a remix which is atleast a little different from the original. Here remix and original sound the same only with overload of autotune used

I feel remixes are made out of a respect and love for the original song... now now, if the music composer is poor in his craft, what can be done other than turning off the song? :p

My uncles used to write remix for songs and they did it purely out of love for the song being remixed.. sometimes even I translate some lines from original in between and sing to myself, or imagine a song with some other tune - it's some silly habit I cannot explain but happens when I am so caught up with the song..

I love when a new flavor is given to an original song, we be listening to a song, loving it for many many years, in some cases even forget the song and when a good remix of that song comes out, dil khush ho jata hai, I cannot explain.

And, from my experience, 90s and early 2000 Indian pop music was sooo good, that we who were born during 90s get curious about the originals and enjoy even the originals.. and while listening to the originals we stumble upon or get curious about other songs from that period.. It has happened exactly like that in my case.

Remix have their own special feel or place IMO. Point is, music should be good and the song should be respectful of the original..

Now if a music composer is bad at his job, then we cannot help it ofcourse 😆

Wow finally found the time to reply.

I agree with you that remixed versions have their own special place. And also they do mark a tribute to the original if done well. Key words being 'if done well'. I mean who of us haven't grooved and danced to a remix especially in Sangeets and discotheques. But nowadays every movie has atleast one song which is a remix of the old song. And the sad part is they do it without changing the tune of the original at all. Even a little creativity is missing. Feels like a hasty job rather than something someone has put a lot of heart and thought into. Overload of auto tune and beat synthesizers kills the song. I mean is it really necessary to use the song at all in the movie?? Can they just not do without and add it as a bonus track rather than a mainstream love song between the main leads??

I am so glad that ur uncles remix a lot of old songs. My uncle does it too for some local groups or concerts. Like I told you a lot of my family is into music.

I suppose My main issue isn't with the remixes per se but the carte Blanche it gives the composers to not create originals.

Ciao 😊

I feel that the music composers these days just don't want to work hard and think that re hashing is better.
They just put a rap in between an old Punjabi songs like Kala Chashma, Saturday Saturday, Meain Tera Boyfriend and many others.

Totally agree 👏 guess it won't be far before they actually just synthesise the remix completely with a computer rather than actually even getting a singer to sing a fresh one.
