I ❤️ this film. Such a multilayered film with amazing acting ensemble bringing their A game.

Besides the 3 parallel leads, the supporting cast was superb (Ed Harris, Miranda Richardson, Allison Janney, Claire Danes). 👏 This film is a great showcase of acting.

Moreover... It has one of the most haunting background scores I have heard in a motion picture (one of the few original sound tracks that I own). Phillip Glass's best. ⭐️

I would love an Indian remake of this with the following set of actors

Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) - Kangana

Laura Brown (Julianne Moore) - Vidya

This would ideally be directed by a woman director such as Gauri Shinde or Nandita Das or Koko (after her great debut Death in Gunj)

It is a great movie. But it works precisely because of its specificity - because of the way in which it ties together Woolf's life and Mrs. Dalloway as well as the specific constraints of Western women.

A better way to adapt would be to think of Indian women writers and their seminal works, and then bring them together.
