Till I know what she meant I'd rather give her the benefit of the doubt:P

Hard to give benefit of the doubt when she thought the nepotism charge was mudslinging and opportunistic and un-feminist.

"Every morning I wake up and it's great bathroom reading. It's mudslinging of the worst kind. I don't know Kangana. I know Karan very well. I find Kangana very entertaining and that's about it. I don't want to comment on something that looks opportunistic, honestly. And I believe you are a feminist when you build other people up, especially other women."

Further taking a jibe at her contemporary in the industry Kangana Ranaut, she said, "I don't think to drag someone down or criticising someone or having this public spat I find it very distasteful. You can set examples without washing your dirty linen in public."

She added, "I am very close to Aanand L Rai, Karan Johar and Swara Bhaskar. These three people are very idealistic and ethical human beings. Aanand Rai made Raanjhana with me. He also made Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns with Kangna. His female protagonists are very strong. Karan Johar has only taken me in one film, I Hate Luv Storys', 9 years back. If he really was someone who was a flagbearer of nepotism, I am sure he wouldn't have launched 12 directors."

Seeing what's in bold, one can wonder if Sonam found the three guys little joke distateful...

We can't know what Sonam meant by posting this tweet... we'll know when she'll comment on this particular event.

Seriously I won't understand if she backs him up seeing how he stole the Best Actress (popular) award from her

when these star kids talk diplomatically about nepotism we praise them for being sensible 😃 it is like they agree with our opinion so they are automatically so level headed and sensible 😆
when they get defensive and deny it, then we call them delusional...

it is like asking a white person if white privilege exists and his or her take on it...

arent the outsiders the ones with a better idea of what they might have faced when they audition for movies? i dont see too much attention given to outsiders on their take on nepotism, but every star kid whether it is alia, varun, ranbir or now sonam seem to get comments for their take on it... these kiddos should be the last ones talking about nepotism.. they can argue on how hard it is to make a comeback after their first few movies.. the criticism they receive for being star kids.. the expectations of them, but that's a different issue.. different experience.

star kids talking about nepotism is a joke... this will be the last time i will enter a topic to read a star kid's take on nepotism.. i am done with how sensible they are for acknowledging the problem...

Call me a hater but (if she gives a statement) I guarantee she won't refer to Karan's jibes at Kangana as mud-slinging or opportunistic. Such words won't be used to slam influential insiders like Karan.

Isn't the problem about how the outsider don't really talk about it? Kriti,Tapsee, Sushant... they only talked about it during their film promos. Otherwise they don't talk about it.

The star kids comment on it because the media ask the questions. Like you said, it's not their place to comment but their take on it is asked.
Of course their vue of nepotism is flawed, of course they'll focus more on their hardship than on those of the outsiders. Outsiders who are quite content to work with starkids so they just won't comment...

I personnally feel bad for only a handful of them. The thruth is they chose this profession and they can easily do something out of their lives as they are already well off.

Only you know if you're a hater.
The interview you quoted is some months old and was refering to a particular event regarding the controversy. Now one can't know how Sonam feels about three grown man making fun of someone on stage and before million of people.
Does she think their attitude is reprehensible? Does she feel like it's no big and has been blown out of proportion? Is she beng opportunistic by posting such a cryptic tweet or is she simply fed up that this issue is constantly raised?

Also, Varun, Karan and Saif have apologized I don't know if it's sincere or to deflate the controversy but now why would other celebs comment on an issue that is pretty much closed especially when Kangana has yet to react?
Celebs know how it works (reharse or not? who wrote it?).

so problem is outsider not talking about nepotism? 😳 i agree when the whole "film fraternity" "filmy family" acts like a mafia... vivek is brought up on this forum as a classic example as someone who didn't get movies bc of salman after that press conference... when filmy family acts like a mafia that runs to the defense of their precious lot.. when sanjay dutt setence came out.. all these people were running to meet him.. that is how loving and supportive the film family is towards each other...you think an outsider can risk alienation in their profession by openly talking about their struggles and nepotism? wouldnt that be seen as a betrayal by this loving film fraternity?

its obvious how this family operates when they make a scapegoat out of sushant and kangana on KWK...even on the simplest questions its easy to name sushant for his relationship than one of the star kids..
