Kangana talk about Nepotism because of Alia. She scared by Alia fast movement. That the real reason why Kangana talk about it. She never complaint about Sonam,Salman, Saif...

Kangana, Sonam and Deepika took the time to built their career sure but I could have very well pictured an Anushka in Neerja, a Kareena in Queen or a Vidya in Piku.

Likewise, I could have pictured a Shraddha or a Radhika in UP.

Nowadays, there is only Alia. Shraddha is losing it, Kriti is barely holding on and Parineeti is pretty much over.

Alia has the most interesting and biggest projects of her age bracket.

What I meant is that Sonam indeed barely benefited from nepotism. She could have pretty much been over if it weren't for the success of Raanjhanaa and her choice of movies.

Lol Kangana is eons and ages from Alia. They don't compete for the same kind of roles.

I would have loved to see Kangana alongside Vicky in Meghna Gulzar''s next though. The story seems interesting.

the reason why sonam couldn't benefit despite being a heavy product of nepotism with her own sister producing movies for her is because she was a very weak actress when started and had an abysmal BO track. It was only with karan johar's IHLS she tasted her 1st success after back to back disasters.

Nepotism did help coz any outsider actress with 1st two movies as disasters would really struggle to bag a dharma movie

it is just it couldn't benefit coz she was really bad in most of those movies unlike ranbir/alia and took her years to come up with a relatively decent neerja

another reason is that she has no male following. They don't find her attractive on the level of a deepika or katrina and that also contributes to success and following in BW

Well, Sonam is beautiful and she did impress in Delhi 6. In Saawarya she wasn't bashed for being a bad actor but only lost out to Deepika who did the ATBB OSO.

Alia didn't impress as an actress in her first movie. She was downright horrible trying to imitate Kareena''s Poo. She''s also average when it comes to look and is far from being sexy.

It''s all a matter of opinion but I personally don't think Alia is such a great actress. Yeah when one compares her to the girls of her generation she might seem like some Meryl Streep but she's really painfully average. Thanks Papa Kjo I guess for helping her work with the best directors out there.

Also, Alia isn't up for the same roles than Priyanka or Deepika. She looks too juvenile.

I beg to differ regarding the fact that Sonam's lineage enabled her stay relevant.Deepika was also deemed as a bad actress and struggled at the BO before tasting success. The thing is that both these ladies were the rare female around to be paired opposite Imran or Ranbir.

They were lanched in a big fanfare and had a lot of exposure which ensure that they stayed relevant as A-lister.

The industry had difficulties because of the Financial Crisis and roles for the girls were no better than flowerpot ones hence Katrina's success.

It was the time the likes of Rani and Preity began to disappear in favor of younger actresses anf that Vidya got more popular because the small movies she did worked.

I think it had more to do with the fact that almost everyone who has the ability to help friends and relatives get ahead will (including those who rail against it when it works against them). Similar to this tweet :

i feel most of katrina and sonam's roles been similar baring raanjhana and Neerja of course and some of katrina's

so it wasn't like sonam was always doing path breaking roles and katrina only eye candy ones

in 2011-12 when sonam was playing flower pot roles in Thank you and players..katrina was doing a ZNMD..MBKD..JTHJ..far far far more meaningful roles and movies

so i beg to differ

sonam tried to do flower pot commercial stuff and unlike katrina..she badly failed there..neither her sexy look or dance number (is ko budhi do bhagwan) could evoke any interest..

she didn't stay away..she tried and do a katrina bur realized it is not so easy to dance..be sexy and gain that kinda following

True but in Kangana''s case, she took her sister as a manager and same with her brother. She didn't trust them down people''s throat. If they are bad at their job, it'll only affect her while a bad actor will ruin the experience of the movie goer and the producer might lose money.

Nepotism is in every field but at least sometimes it's backed with diplomas and work experience. Hrithik assisted his father in filmmaking and already knew how dance. He also had the looks so it''s good in my books but some people look bad, can't dance or act. It looks as if they don't put in the effort.

Opportunism has its limits.

In the roles in which Katrina managed to be decent, she pretty much played herself. Still,I never said Katrina only played the same roles time and again. I actually liked her in some of them.

Regarding Sonam, she only did 2 of these movies in Players and Thank You. I may be in the minority but I think she was good in Players.

The rest of her filmography were made of more intesting roles. It was only 2 movies out 12 on a span of 9 years.

The role she had in Saawarya was nothing like the one she had in Aisha or the one she had in Khoobsurat. Likewise, the role she had in Neerja wasn't like the one she had in Dolly Ki Doli or the one she had in Raanjhanaa.

Sonam might have some weaknesses but she works on it and always tries to outdo herself without leaning on a top actor.
She's versatile because :
- in "Saawarya" she was enacting a mysterious borderline crazy girl,
- in "Delhi 6" a Delhi girl dreaming of more than what her parents have planned for her future

- in "Players" the annoying brat
- in "I Hate Luv Storys" a romantic and naive girl
- in "Aisha" a spoilt brat
- in "Mausam" a scared girl
- in "Raanjhanaa" a cute young girl and a fierce, manipulative woman
- in "Bewakoofiyaan" an urban corporate girl
- in "Khoobsurat" the bubbly Milli

- in "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" the demure princess

- in "Neerja" the late Neerja. She managed to show courage and fear at the sam time.
