Nope...she was mediocre. She couldnt do basic stuff like crying/emotional scenes. When she talks to her family about the abuse she faces that was so badly done.

Similarly her Bihari accent was pathetic in UP. It was obvious her accent was put on.

Only roles she is decent is in films like 2States, BKD which needs a certain gamine charm. But thats not bad both these films are commercial films and they helped increase her fanbase among the paying public. In comparison to her Parineeti is highly repetitive in commercial roles and Shraddha is plain bad. The rest didnt even get a chance to prove anything either way.

Well Kat mostly survived by doing flowerpot roles and item dances, actresses can survive by doing flowerpot roles but the actors can't survive like that because BW is mostly male dominated place and the most movies depend on the heroes, so Arbaaz or Sohail couldn't survive in the industry like Kat did and about Esha Deol, she wasn't that bad actress but she seemed lazy and not that hard working like Alia but if KJo supported somebody else whether it's Illeana or Esha, then they would've had little better career because one need to get good opportunities to become successful.

Looking at her work these days, I think she had the potential to be another DP.

Haven't watched Barfi, but from what people say, she was good which means she was at least average and has the looks to command a male fan base. She certainly has presence in the music videos I have seen of her like Hawa Hawa, Besharmi Ki Height, Galat Baat Hai, Mubarakan etc.

Missed opportunity for BW. I guess she wasn't willing to hustle as much as is required to be a BW superstar. Her choice.

Would have been nice to see her on top but that train is gone now unless a miracle happens.

I always say Illeana and Yami's biggest problem is they are Alia's contemporary , Truth .

But Alia is a good actor, No one can take that away from here either.

But those two were good too in their First films, It is just they are not given chances like Alia, Pari

In Bollywood you can only survive if you are star kid, or excellent actor or ready to sleep in your way or happy doing flowerpot roles (It needs sex appeal). But biggest is backing from a big production house,.

Illeana and Yami has no backing simple as that

stop blaming Alia for everything. she is talented chose wise projects and shined .even Tapsee is more relevant than Illeana .she is an outsider too

totally! @cougartown...Ileana is more beautiful and has more screen presence than Alia..she can look equally good with Varun dhawan and Ajay devgan... if most of the heroines these days had been backed the way KJO has backed Alia..they probably would have gone further than her... Alia will always have the KJO cloud over her head no matter what she achieves... he is called the flag bearer of nepotism and she is the main reason he has been given that title.. I saw Kaabil recently... even Yami would have done really well if she had some of Alia's chances as she is also prettier than Alia n can also act

thats the thing KJO is managing and masterminding Alia's career...she was apparently meant to do Rock on 2...but he advised her against it... otherwise it wud have been a flop for her... KJO won't let her have 2 flops forget 15 flops..

the others are all big boys n girls...they manage their OWN careers n make their OWN mistakes n learn from them and thats how u earn respect even if u fail.

all the other heroines, Deepika, Kat, PC, Anushka, Ileana, shradha etc have made mistakes n had flops and learn from them... no one has a career that is so masterminded like Alia's...she is the puppet n KJO is her puppeteer
