If you look at Main Prem Ki Deewani, both Kareena and Hrithik were horrid. Abhishek was the only one who acted decently, but who cared anyway?

Ranbir got KJo's big film even in his flop phase. That hardly happens with other actors.

Bottomline is, it's not just about being a starkid, it's also about having the backup of the right people.

And of course you have to be at least average to succeed under this setup, which Alia and Ranbir definitely are. The likes of Arbaaz, Sohail are incorrigible, so no matter how many chances given by powerful people like Salman, they will never rise above mediocrity.

All I am saying is, I will not hype Alia because I know that there are several other talented and more beautiful women out there who will truly make the most out of the chances they are given. Ileana is one such example. With the right backing, she could do wonders. With no one helping her, she is only doing flowerpot roles in movies like Mubarakan, when in fact, she is capable of a lot more than that. But yes, we may disagree on the Ileana bit, so you can replace her with any other decent XYZ actress without a powerful backing who is better than Alia. She would have done more wonders!

except one thing..

that any one under that setup will perform well..

see now that is taking away all possible credit from alia..

i do feel obviously illeana has the talent which we all saw in barfi and giving her something good will really extract that out

but to say any xyz would have performed well in setup similar to highway or UP..is really taking all possible credit away from alia which i think she deserves a little bit..

coz i doubt an esha deol or a tanisha have done a highway or UP the way alia did no matter how good the team/ setup

Again, I didn't say any XYZ actress would be better than Alia in those films. I consider Alia average but has the right opportunities at the right time. So even any XYZ actress who is above average will go beyond what Alia has done so far, with the same opporunities.

But KJo is different...he is a very smart mentor who understands just giving someone a film is not enough. Its necessary to create an impression that you are rooting for talent among the public. Hence he not only makes sure Alia gets the best written roles with the best directors but when she does mediocre work in stuff like Highway and UP he gets media and industry bigwigs to praise her to the skies. So you have someone like Shabana praise her and you think 'Wow! Shabana praising her...the girl must be good'. Its like the Matrix. If you note the same has started off with Suhana Khan too. Recently Shabana praised her too. And everyone is think 'Wow! Suhana must be good as Shabana Azmi praised her'.
