When will Bollywood take Prabhas seriously?

Somehow South Indian stars, especially males, do not do well in Bollywood. Rajanikanth was a huge star but never made it in Hindi films. Same with Kamal Hassan. Kamal did have a huge hit with his very first movie though...Ek duje ke liye. The girls from south have always fared exceedingly well. From Vyjantimala to Sridevi to Genelia/Tapsee/Illeana. Coming to Prabhas, I don't think he'll make it in BW. Something is missing. That X factor that makes BW heroes click, I guess.

That is the thing about South superstars. They live lavish lives. Huge houses unlike Mumbai, businesses in movies and outside. Like Thalaiva for instance, the wife founded a school and ran it, they still own it AFAIK.have a wedding mandap, other movie related business. South stars don't need BW for money or fame. They do very well with the diaspora of the South for worldwide fame and BO.

Agreed. But we are speaking this from Prabhas POV. But what about Bollywood? Maybe I wouldnt call him a gold mine but is he still not better than some star kid atleast he is a bankable actor and as any smart businessman wouldnt it make a lot of sense?

I think they had shown far more interest in Gautam Gulati than they are showing to Prabhas as I remember one time Gulati was offered like 11 Bolllywood roles. 😆

😲 Gulati !! Well, that's IF for you.

I heard Prabhas is doing some KJO movie. BW is good at milking popularity and they'll definitely give Prabhas a good movie to tap his fanbase.

Bollywood is a weird place.. It prefers a North Indian looking hero for its masala films.. I don't think Prabhas will be accepted despite receiving audience love .. People like Hardhvardhan K will be shoved down our throats instead. Nawaz, Irfan dont g et to play the hero of a masala movies.. Prabhas could be like Kamal hassan in terms of success in bollywood. That won't be Prabhas loss though.. The south Indian film industry is huge.. And will grow even more with time. If he dominates it then he will be a huge phenomenon in India, he doesn't really need bollywood.

BW's loss then. if you go to Youtube and see the comments under Prabas old Telugu movies, there are many people who do not speak the language but have searched out his movies. But are they the majority ? I doubt it. Let's not pretend he is a big superstar in BW now. To the average BW viewer he is still Bahubali and not Prabas. Name recognition is not there. So I don't think BW could add to his resume and bigger superstars than him have failed.

BW's policy by preferring unproven starkids over established stars be it TV or other industries will be a reason it is failing is another issue entirely, but that cannot be saved by Prabas alone.

interestingly, for a non-Indian like me who watch BW, most don't really know the difference between all these kollywood, sandalwood or bw movies... If it's an Indian movie, it's automatically a bw movie even if it's punjabi or others..

So to us Prabhas is another big star of the BW..

Prabhas does not need Bollywood, Bollywood does not need Prabhas.

The Hindi film industry and the regional film industries are unique entities. Movies like Baahubali, Sairat, Ustad Hotel, Bangalore Days and the likes have received global acclaim on their own merit.

While the exchange of celebrities and crossovers is idealistic, it dilutes the uniqueness of these individual industries.
