Jagga Jasoos 5th Day (Tuesday) Collection Early Trends.
By ankur baruah On 8:14 PM In Box Office, Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor

Trade is in absolute shock after the free fall of Jagga Jasoos on killer Monday (4th day). So, how is the film box office performance on Tuesday (5th day) then?

Jagga Jasoos has shown hold on day 5 although occupancy have now come to low level. Limited samples for the Tuesday suggest, film is hanging on lower level with nearly similar occupancy to Monday.

Film opened to around 15-17% occupancy in Morning shows. After that it showed limited growth in Noon and Afternoon to record occupancy of around 20-25%. Film further registered limited jump in Evening and as per latest recording occupancy of around 30-35%.

Interiors report are awaited for the day. Going by the trend, film should register normal to significant drop there. Anyways film is hardly collecting substantial from single screens and interiors. Major reports for the day is awaited. Overall film is showing nominal drop from previous day. Film has collected an approx 37+ crore nett in first 4 days.

Film will touch 40 crore nett by the end of today. Early trend suggest, film is on track to collect 3.25-3.5 crore nett for the day. As far as 4 crore mark is concerned, for that it needs to show big jump in Night shows, which are yet to start off or just about to start.

What is says is JJ is holding up well, had low occupancy in the morning but picked up later, had 20-25% growth in Noon and afternoon shows and has shown limited jump in evening shows 30-35% in evening shows.
Its looking around 3.5 to 3.75 crores collection for today but might be 4 crores if Night shows pick up

My note: How do they expect kids and young adults to come watch movie on schooldays?
They will come on weekends naa
JJ shd have been released during summer holidays in India...then kids could have watched on weekdays too

An Open Thank You Letter To Anurag Basu And Ranbir Kapoor.
by Agam Anand - 18/07/20170

Dear Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor,

First of all, I want to thank you for Jagga Jasoos, I usually write reviews and opinions on movies but this time around I want to write a thank you letter and you know why? Let me tell you. We live in a strange country where same masala mediocre cinema is what the mass loves, they don't have the concentration level to understand the beauty of complex screenplays with no taste for art. We live in a country where loud films become big hits and still you guys dared to make this film. Hats off to you Mr. Basu, people are saying you tried to make the Indian Tintin but what's wrong in it? I am an author and I get inspired by the books I read and you can see the hint of Shakespeare's Sonnet No. 55 in my first novella too. Trust me no work of fiction in this world takes place without inspiration.

The Media is against your film, some dual faced Indian critics are saying being a true musical is a short coming and the same people loved La La Land, Into The Woods and Beauty And The Beast. There's one critic who mocked the film because it commented on war, seriously? It's an adventure mystery dealing a case related to illegal arms supply in the world and they have every right to comment on war, and they did, what's wrong in it? Some cried over the length of it and the same clapped like crazy when a never ending ear-tearingly loud Bahubali: The Conclusion came. The state of film reviews in the country is a laughing stock. Well, I also had issues with a couple of scenes but in front of an overall wonderful magical experience that is nothing and no art piece is perfect. The film might not get success at the box office but don't worry, you have to move ahead with your head held high because you have made a great film. A true musical adventure with heart. And never compromise in the pressure of earning money, just follow your heart and make visionary films like this and I guarantee you the horizon of your niche will definitely increase with time. This movie took me into the world I wanted to see as an artist, gave me the kind of high which I had after watching Tim Burton's Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, even I saw a glimpse of Burton's cult classic Big Fish in Jagga Jasoos.

Mr. Basu I know there are many like me who loved the film and you have raised the bar of Indian Cinema. I also want to say Thank you to Ravi Varman who painted the vision of Basu on celluloid and every frame of the movie is sensational. I want to hug Pritam too, who when got an opportunity of a lifetime to showcase his talent has pushed the envelope in the best way possible. Thank you for casting Saswata Chatterjee and giving him an opportunity to deliver a superb performance. Thank you, Katrina Kaif, for being a part of this beautiful and brave film.

And now, at last, Thank you, Ranbir Kapoor, for being the artist you are. Which actor of our generation has the guts to act and produce a film like this in an industry where people and trade write off the actors only after a single flop? He knew he is not Aamir Khan, the only mainstream actor, and Superstar whose experiments are loved and accepted in the country almost every single time yet Kapoor acted and dared to produce this risky venture. Since your debut, you have been the different one and tried hands to do movies which were unusual. Be it the lovely Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year, Rockstar, Barfi, Tamasha, Wake up Sid and even Bombay Velvet (I just loved your portrayal of Johnny Balraj, didn't like the film though). You are the next Aamir Khan, mark my words or I would say the first Ranbir Kapoor. Here nobody will praise the efforts you guys have made to make this film but do not worry. This movie will find its cult in the times to come, Thank you again for Jagga Jasoos.

Irrespective of its box office Jagga Jasoos for me is a success, and it is bigger than the box office because it is Cinema's success. After the pre credit tease scene, I badly want to see a sequel but I know no one will come out to back the project but if possible make a Netflix sequel without the worry of the bloody competitive box office.

A Creative viewer,

Agam Anand

Jagga Jasoos Grosses Over 62 Crores In 4 Days At Worldwide Box Office

The film had a decent weekend at Indian box office .

July 18, 2017

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's much awaited Jagga Jasoos released last Friday. The film had a decent weekend at Indian box office but the word of mouth for the film is extremely mixed. Though the majority of critics acclaimed the film saying it as Poetry In Motion the audience seems to think it otherwise.

Jagga Jasoos was always targeted at multiplex audiences and it caught up quite well at the plexes. The single screen audience have mixed response due to the unconventional topic and usage of too many songs instead of dialogues.

Jagga Jasoos Grosses Over 62 Crores In 4 Days At Worldwide Box Office

In four days the film has grossed over 62.17 crores at the worldwide box-office. The film saw a considerable drop on Monday earning approximately 4.05 crores.

The first week collections might be in the range of under 45 crores mark but that's really not enough considering the humongous budget the film has. The hopes were high with the film as it has everything for everyone favoring the kids too. The numbers clearly show a section of the audience has rejected the film and hence the result.

Trending :

Trade pundits predicting reason of the Jagga Jasoos' lukewarm response is the storytelling of the film. The target audience of the film is too limited resulting in the mixed word of mouth. Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu were lucky during Barfi as it found a connection with the public but it's not looking the same case with Jagga Jasoos.

Director also finished the film with an open ending hinting at a sequel but it'll be hard to say if that idea will see the light of the day or not. To break even the film would have to avoid any crash and remain stable at the box-office to earn good lifetime collections.
