My review for Jagga Jasoos:

JJ is truly a cinematic experience, its an explosion of the senses, of sights, sounds, experiences, emotions, memories, at the same time stimulating our brain with whodunit mysteries and a sinister international arms smuggling ring ruthlessly eliminating its enemies.
Its also appealing to our conscience, questioning our apathy at the senseless violence inflicted on innocents with the aid of illegal weapons and the collusion of powers that be with those nefarious enemies of mankind.

Anurag Basu and Ranbir have hit it out of the park with this 3 year long labor of love, this amalgamation of comic book adventures and detective novels.
Basu pays homage to Hitchcock (the clock tower murder mystery as in Vertigo), to Tintin comics, and also to Satyajit Ray in the imaginary country of Shundi (from Ray's Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne)

The 2nd half is almost entirely inspired by Pure Luck where Jagga is in Danny Glover's detective role and Kat is the Bad Lucky Martin Short who is helping Danny find the carbon copy bad lucky heiress, here replaced by Jagga's dad.
I wonder if any critic has noticed the inspiration from Pure Luck?

The 1st 20 mins is crucial to the movie, its not just songs, its the backstory which forms the crux of the movie. It starts with the Purulia Arms Drop in 1995 when the illegal weapons are dropped by mistake at a film location instead of where the militants were waiting with their reflector signals.
And as always Bagchi's bad luck that he stumbled on an international arms suppliers ring...and he got embroiled in the whole sinister game as a result.

Kat is the sutradhar, the story teller in true Brechtian tradition but then shes also part and parcel of the story, shes a main character, a journalist who is stumbling onto leads and leading Jagga to solve the arms smuggling case.

She switches gears to tell the story of Jagga's childhood, an orphan abandoned at a hospital, sleeping under the stairs Potter style but not ill-treated, he was loved and cared for by hospital workers...and how Jagga stumbled upon an injured Bagchi, helped him recover and hence formed a lifelong circle of love and trust. Bagchi adopted him and also taught him how to sing his words to overcome his pronounced stammer.

Little Jagga's sadness when his father leaves him was heartbreaking, the older Jagga's melancholy and longing for his absentee father is so well portrayed in that song and when hes waiting for his birthday vdo on top of that weird tower.
The 1st case of Ms Mala's murder was to introduce us to Jagga's amazing deduction skills but the 2nd case where he meets Shruti is tied to the arms smuggling trade which is central focus of the movie.
The story is not linear, it shifts back and forth, swings from past to present and in between so some people may have problems understanding a few scenes but focus is always strongly on the central story of arms trade and Jagga's father's disappearance.
Saurabh Shukla's character was so nasty in the movie that I was glad when he died when the rocket they had fired themselves struck their car and exploded.

Bengalis will get an extra thrill out of this movie because of several words and references to famous books, movies, and above all, Netaji and INA's use of the hidden cave between Burma and India, which is now being used to smuggle weapons.
The imaginary country name Shundi is taken from Satyajit Ray's movie Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne based on a children's story written by his grandfather Upendrakishore Roychowdhury
Bengali words are dropped here and there throughout the movie, like Gondogol..

The funniest Bong-ism was Agapastala...which is actually a Bengali word meaning top to bottom or head to toe.
So while they are searching for Bagchi from top to bottom in the African country, they are looking in 99 hotels named Agapastala...what a hilarious play on words there 😆

Now for the director, artists and technicians:

Basu: His vision, his story, direction, the whole creation is worth the wait. He has made something extraordinary, something nobody has tried before, a comic book adventure cum musical and accomplished it successfully. Hats off to the dreamer! 👏

Ranbir: What can I say that others have not already said, hes just BRILLIANT, OUTSTANDING, Hes so Natural, just blends into the character, he becomes Jagga, not for a moment did he seem out of place in that boys hostel, or as a young detective. Jagga's melancholy sadness abt his missing father, his madcap adventurous escapades, his taking risks to save others lives, his crush on Shruti, his quick wit and antennae for danger...everything is portrayed so naturally, without a misstep.👏

Kat: The surprise package, she always delivers her best when paired with Ranbir as also seen in APKGK and Rajneeti but Ive never seen her so adorably funny and goofy as in this movie.
Shes clumsy and prone to bad luck syndrome like Bagchi, but just like him her Guardian Angel works overtime and she gets saved in the nick of time, usually by Jagga.
Everytime she was falling or crashing into something, whole audience was laughing out loud. she was a smart and dignified journalist, yet goofy and clumsy as hell...she pulled off the dichotomy very well

Saswata Chatterjee as Tutifuti Badal Bagchi was very endearing as the dad, yet also quick witted and extremely smart to investigate the international arms smuggling operations without getting bumped off. Being accident prone bad lucky didnt stop him from using his wits to get out of tricky, lethal situations..

Music: Pritam excels in background score as well as most of the songs which are apt for the situations. Galti se Mistake was even more foot tapping dance inducing on the big screen. Ullu ka Pattha was a visual and auditory delight alongwith some fabulous dancing moves by RK and Kat. Ranbir is such an underrated dancer.
The Nimbu Mirchi song was like a slap on callous attitudes towards death and violence, it prods our apathy to senseless tragedies and questions our false sense of well being.
Khana Khakey song was wacky as well as philosophical, celebrating the birthday of Shruti's dead boyfriend called for something like that

Lyrics: Can someone already give all awards available to Amitabh Bhattacharya? How does he do it? For every song in every movie he gives the perfect words to fit the situation. Such wit, such whimsical and emotional intelligence in his lyrics.👏

Cinematography: Outstanding, some of the scenes were like paintings, that lush green field where RK and Kat were wearing baskets, or the vast stretch of desert topography with tall giraffes grazing along, the distant shots of a train in the desert and that old timer plane, and even the indoor shots where the action was taking place, the lighting to set the mood for each scene...ALL TOP NOTCH! 👏

My only complaint is the last 20 mins action sequences were too fast paced and frenetic, scene changes were abrupt and some in between scenes seem to have been edited out so it looked weird at times.

Overall a very satisfying movie experience, I was waiting for this movie and Im delighted that its even better than my high expectations from a Basu and Ranbir collaboration.
They have indeed outdone themselves, made something unique and novel and I really hope they come up with a sequel because I want to know what will happen next.

My rating: 4 out of 5

My review-

Watched the movie FDFS yesterday. And I am going to watch it again next week. As a person who has reviewed movies in past, I can see how difficult it must be to review the movie. It jumps genres like there is no tomorrow. And that is its biggest shortcoming and biggest USP. So critics who get it, get it. Who don't trash it.

I thank my stars, I am free from all of it and can review it simply as audience. The movie is like young adult novel with anime level of action. It is so fast paced that 2 hours. 48 minutes dissolve. Movie is paisa vasool and needs to be seen on big screen to be savored completely. There is something for every one which makes it an unique experience watch. The fact that it is musical jars for first few minutes. But once Ranbir gets on that screen, movie takes of.

The movie is divided into 3 segments-

The first one where Jagga meets his dad is more heart felt and will appeal to people who like Barfi. There is mystery angle and lovely tap dance musical number.
The second one is Jagga meets Shruti has mystery angle with amped up action. It ends with Galti Se Mistake. If there is one song that begs for dancing in theater, this is the one.
The third one is where Jagga searches for his father with Shurti's help. It has 2 musical number but also some high octane fight scene. Someone told me it was designed by guys who did latest Mad Max. And it shows and how. The segment ends again in Barfi way and with heart felt father-son meeting and soothing Musafir song. This is by far my most favorite segment.

The ending scene is how good movie should end. People left theater muttering about possibility of sequel and can it happen. All of us actually waited till end of movie. Hallmark of good movie.

Performances -
Ranbir- No matter how many BO numbers people crunch against him, he is a bona fide star. And there is no better way to verify than to experience it first hand in this movie. He is excellent as usual but what is commendable and new is he has become smooth in action which bodes well for his future movies. And he practically runs this movie with sheer talent. No script necessary.
Katrina - is okaish but in second segment in one scene she looks utterly gorgeous and in third segment she comes of her own and is really good. She seems to have enjoyed the movie making and it shows.
Shashwata - For a non principled lead he has lot to do in the movie. So he does thing that we don't expect him to do. And that includes that red car chase. These kind of little touch of surprises makes this movie awesome.
Little Kid who played Jagga- I didn't catch his name but he was good.
Saurabh - He is love. And Tuka Laga is even better in the entirety.

I give this movie 4 stars for setting up world. It does have a handicap that first in series usually have. It takes time to setup. And it does need some judicious editing to reduce the time. Not much but few snips. But anyone who doesn't want to watch just because they are anti-actors or are reading some critics will lose chance to watch something incredible. Just saying. Peace. 😳

Jagga Jasoos | Not a review but an experience |

I'll try to make it as brief as possible...

The opening sequence/monologue of the film which lasts approx. 15 minutes might be the best in the history of Indian cinema. (No, I'm not exaggerating). It unfolds the story of Jagga and ushers cine-goers into the world of Jagga Jassos. Basu clearly let the audience know what they are in for. It is an out and out musical. Jagga Jasoos will hit the general Indian public like a truck. Nothing of this sort has ever been tried in the celluloid, I doubt someone ever will. The cinematography and BGM treatment is something I believe the audience will cherish it to their grave.

The movie is a fantasy world of Mr. Basu. He unfolds his imagination with such grace and beauty on big screen. His name shall be written in the books of 'The greats who changed Indian Cinema'.

Katrina Kaif is a revelation in every sense in this movie as Shruti. None apart from Ms. Kaif would've brought the character to life, absolutely no one. Her subtle gullibility is what makes the screenplay intact throughout.

Ranbir Kapoor; superlatives are lost within the realm of ones thinking ability for this man. RK ek taraf aur baaki sab ek taraf. Boy oh boy can he act. He is rightly 'The chosen one'. Take the Bollywood torch and others will follow the lead. All hail Mr. RK.
All the adventure cartoons and comic books you have ever read in your life will come to life. See it to believe it.

Special mention to the little Jagga, Saswata Chatterjee, Shukla ji and Pritam.

Rating - 4.75/5 **** | Perfection is boring aye..

No Spoilers

I will be very honest, I think its the best Indian movie I have seen in my life. It was so out of the box that it actually didn't feel like an Indian movie. This was Hollywood level stuff, the canvas was big, cinematography is marvellous. I didn't think highly of Anurag Basu but I can't believe its the same director who has made Gangster, life in a Metro and Barfi, there is so much of variation in his work. Its not about comparison but I always thought SLB is the one who knows what grandeur is all about. But SLB needs dramatic costumes, over the top dialogues, unreal emotions, lots of chandeliers, tons of make up and jewellery and not to forget lavish sets to make it spectacular. Basu does nothing of that sort yet there was so much of detail everywhere. His simplicity is his extravagance. He is an artist in true sense. He creates moments which stays with you. He is an asset you guys have. Hats off to that mad genius!!

Ranbir!!! ⭐️ I am soo soo proud of you! When I saw you in Saawariya, I knew you are not that quintessential, the very typical Hindi film hero. There was something in your face in expressions and in those big dreamy eyes which touched my heart. Its been 10 years I am your fan and after today I am very proud to say that I will be your fan for the next 1000 years!! By investing your time energy and money in this kind of maddness you have proved that, you are going to take path less traveled. Just like in Rockstar Shammi Ji says 'Ye Bara Janwar Hai, Ye Tumharay Chotay Pinjray Main Nahi Samaye Ga'. His acting, his screen presence, his stammering, emotions, every thing was on point.

Katrina was endearing! She made her presence felt even standing with Ranbir in the same frame and this movie couldn't be completed without her. I can't see any other actress playing that role as convincingly and as effortlessly as Kat did. You got to love Shruti with her minimal make up and her infectious cuteness. I loved her after Namastay London and that says a lot! Kat fans you guys need to stock to theatres 😃

Special mention to "Professor Bagchi" playing Ranbir's father. He is a marvellous actor!!

Its very easy to do item numbers to do latkas jhatkas and pelvic thrusts to get seeti from audience. There were so many scenes where item numbers could be there but the unusual story telling takes you to a different world altogether. Even transition of one scene from the other has been done beautifully! I love musicals and I am a fan of animations, hence musical was not a problem for me except from the fact that some mysteries were explained in the form of songs which I totally skipped. As its difficult to understand a story in form of songs. There were many scenes where there is no dialogue at all and you dont even feel that its been a while and no one is speaking 😆 I only wish the musical was done in low tones and less dramatic background music. It took my attention away!

I am not a fan of action movies and the chasing sequences give me headaches. But the 2nd half of this movie is even better than the first one. There were many kids/teen aged guys and they were clapping and enjoying it. A very cute kid of around 5 years of age was so engrossed towards the big screen that it was funny to even look at him 😆

I am a happy fan and will sleep well all smiling. I might go again with friends on Sunday. For now, I am going offline after posting this review. Even if this movie doesnt do well and dont find its audience, I will still be very proud of Ranbir. And yeah 'Ghalti Se Mistake' on big screen was full paisa wasool ⭐️

I am giving 4.5 out of 5 star! -0.5 because I think first half could have been tighter and some dialouges (specially the cases that JJ solves) should have been in narration form rather than musical. I totally skipped some of the details. It might be due to dizziness of cough syrup and/or because of the fact I am under the weather and on antibiotics this week.

So enjoy the movie and experience a different kind of cinema!! You will miss out the details on small screen!! Dont miss it!

On JJ:
Its a disney family musical movie, and it has everything in it for every age. If you love disney movie and comic book, then you shouldnt miss this movie. I wish they make this movie in english. The visual and cinematography of this movie are breath taking. Its worth watching on big screen. I knew Ranbir would give stellar performance but I had low hopes for Katrina. I thought she would mess up this movie badly. But Anurag was able to take out the best out of her. Its her best performance till date that I have seen. Ranbir performance is really good, and he excel in every frame and he is rightly given appreciated by all the critics. Shukla and Ranbir's dad were good in supporting role. The background score is amazing. Its entertaining feel good movie which will not bore you to death.

Ok I am a total neutral viewer. Neither I am a Ranbir fan nor hater. So today when I had nothing better to do, I went to watch JJ. As I had already read plethora of negative reviews, I had my expectations at all time low. As the movie started, my brain somehow started recalling all the negative reviews and first 10 mins of the movie did'nt help either. Since I had paid for the tickets with my hard earned money, I forced myself to get into the movie. And Guess What !!! I actually started enjoying the movie.

Ranbir was FABULOUS.He pulled off the character of a boarding school student with such finesse and charm. He actually looked the part. And so was Katrina. She actually did act in this movie.

As far as opera-kind of feel is concerned. That was the charm of this movie. It was different. You just have to be open minded and not let negative reviews clout your judgement. I will definitely recommend this movie to everyone. Give it a chance and I am sure it will be a enjoyable experience.

JJ had everything from music to comedy, From romance to thrill, Everything.

I will give an easy 4 out of 5 to JJ.

Movie remind me of fan where they forgot you can have a bad start but you need to end a movie brilliant climax as people only remember the second half experience.

First half was going good ,it had everything beautiful scenes, a well done introduction of character, setting up the jagga detective skills, songs everything is going great and than second half happens, it nosedives ,crashes and burn.
Don't know why katrina get casted in these roles which don't require glamour and need acting skills.
Movie is too long, once the movie novelty wears off and first story is wrapped up, second half suffers.
Watchable for ranbir kapoor acting and role ofcourse.

Maybe I am creatively challenged, but I couldn't bring myself to like the film! I will be honest, I felt like walking out of the theater 30 minutes in the movie, me and hubby couldn't understand what was going on...yeah like I said maybe we lack the sensibilities to appreciate such cinema, but I truly couldn't connect with anything at all...

Really boring and My rating is 1.5/5
1 for how beautifully it has been shot

It says, we've worked so very diligently to earn every single smile, giggle, sigh, gasp and tear from you. It says, we know you are not shallow nor cognitively lazy, we know you 'got it'. Ranbir and Katrina are PERFECT ambassadors delivering this sincere and heartfelt sentiment...

A visual delight, cinematic experience which should not be missed.Reminded me of Wes Anderson's movies and I am glad that the filmmakers were able to pull it off. RK was fabulous as jagga, without any iota of doubt he is one of the finest actors of this generation. No words I write can express the delight of watching Ranbir on screen. Katrina did a great job, playing such an endearing goofball without overdoing it. Since she is a director's actor, I am glad that Anurag was able to extract a good performance from her. Saswata chatterjee played his character to perfection. While there were romantic undertones, I am pretty much glad that the movie didn't stray from the father-son theme.
There were so many things that could have gone wrong with this movie(specially with the 4 year long wait) but thankfully didn't, I was a bit skeptic about the musical aspect but songs were easy on my ears and I must say quite hummable and since being part of the dialogue, they moved the movie forward instead of the usual Bollywood nach gaana routine which takes you from the movie.
They could have kept the length a bit short , otherwise the film worked very well for me.

tbh the only reason we went to the movie was coz we haven't seen a hindi movie post badri in theatres. on the whole, its an average/good movie, with Ranbir's acting being its high point.

The acting=> 5/5. Ranbir, like everyone has already mentioned was top notch, easily one of the best talents of the younger generation. Surprisingly, even Katrina was at top form in this movie. Suited her character to the core. The rest of the supporting actors were also good especially the actor playing his dad in the movie.

Story=> 3/5 it was interesting but could have been better, like everyone has mentioned, Anurag tried telling too many different stories in a single movie, if they focused on a single story instead of several different small ones, the flow would've been smother. I ended up losing track of what their main storyline was since there were so many running together.

Music=> 3.5/5 They helped enhance the plot to a huge extent and most of them were fun and catchy to listen to. However, the first 20 minutes were told entirely through songs which got a little boring, after that, there are significantly less songs which makes it easier to watch. But i wont deny that the attempt of a musical was very well done so for that alone it deserves props.

Length=> 1/5 Biggest drawback imo, too too long. (Spoiler) the entire sequence of Jagga figuring out how his teacher died was not needed though it was very interesting, as there were two more cases after that one to showcase his skills. Instead of wasting time on that, i feel the final case, which was the main storyline, to do with illegal arm selling, should've been extended. Furthermore, it should've been the ONLY the storyline. (spoiler ends)

Cinematography=> 5/5 Easily the best part of the entire movie, the visuals were stunning!

Climax=> 3.5/5 Dragged a little too long. At that point we were getting a tad restless for it to end. But thankfully, they ended the storyline properly, instead of relying entirely on a sequel to take it forward, at the same time leaving room open for a sequel.

Chemistry=> 4/5 Though they weren't a romantic pair in the movie, it was still on point. Katrina is Ranbir's best pairing for me personally, i loved them in APKGK so my views may be a little biased. (Spoiler) I did end up rooting for them somewhat throughout the story though that isn't what the movie was trying to achieve, keeping in mind Shruti's entire past with Akash (spoiler ends)

Sequel? yes or no? I'm all up for it, however the length needs to legit be an hour or so less with only that one plot that was briefly touched on the last 30 or so seconds.

Overall rating 3.75/5

okay so i watched it last night. Finally

Let me first tell that the cinema i watched it in (Bahrain btw) was the most packed i have ever seen a BW movie so far in. I normally go there just before the movie coz you mostly end up getting tickets but this time it was all full and i was left with no option but to sit in the first row

so coming to the review.

* SPOILER ALERT!!!

The movie may not be everyone's cup of tea but since this is my review on it i will talk about myself and my experience not for others. So was it my cup of tea? Did i have a good time? Hell yeah I did!!

This movie has its heart at the right place. The emotions are never thrown at your face but you feel those and you feel for Jagga.

Coming straight to performances;

Ranbir Kapoor is easily the finest talent from our generation and I really don't exaggerate when I say he is also one of the finest BW ever produced. With this movie he proves once again what a gigantic talent he is. He is so effortless and natural that you think he has always been stammering..he has always been Jagga. He lives the role.

A couple of scenes I have to mention, one where he keeps asking the guy for his dad's letter and one day breaks down saying he doesn't even know his name. That scene was performed beautifully.

Also another one where he finds his dad and runs to him, trying to tell him despite his limitations that he is Jagga. Brilliant! Ranbir kapoor lives Jagga and I can surely say no other actor would have done justice to this role the way Ranbir did. He is a talent unmatched from today's lot

Katrina Kaif is in top form. She is really good in the movie. I was pleasantly surprised by her ability to pull off the scenes especially the comic ones with such ease. I was literally laughing out loud at her scenes and she was hilarious. I have to say that this role was not an easy one as many would assume. To be funny yet sublime is not a very thing. This is a role which easily had the tendency for someone to go extremely OTT but katrina balances it beautifully being funny yet in total control, at ease, extremely natural and with a gigantic screen presence standing her own in each frame she appears in. Great performance, one of her best so far.

The other cast playing Jagga's dad and the rest of the supporting cast all do a good job as well

Coming to direction, Anurag Basu for me has succeeded in giving something different with its heart at the right place. He injected several moments which I took back with me.His characters are well developed and even though the story is nothing extra ordinary, it was his treatment which for sure makes it one good experience

I cannot conclude without speaking of music and pritam since this is a musical and it wouldn't have been the same without him. I will be honest i was a bit scared when I heard there are 26 songs in the movie but they are so beautifully placed and take the story forward that I absolutely enjoyed those. Also galti se mistake and ulu ka patha were a treat watch

Ranbir and Katrina have the cutest chemistry. They were adorable together and one of the biggest highlights is their chemistry

The movie also has its share of drawbacks. It is a bit lengthy extending over 2 hours 40 min and could have been trimmed a bit. Also the initial scene where the murder of the teacher was depicted could easily have been reduced. Post interval the movie does drag a little and some scenes could have been tighter and executed better.

Overall, Jagga Jasoos turned out to be an amazing experience for me. I am glad I did not make the galti se mistake of missing this one.

4/5 stars

Okay. I don't remember the last time I genuinely liked a Ranbir Kapoor film. And I had extremely low expectations before watching this film thanks to the mixed reviews. But boy was I pleasantly surprised. I LOVED the film. It was quirky, crazy, endearing and entertaining for most parts. It's the kind of film you either love or hate. My friends hated it and were distracted through out 😆 They were shocked I liked it and dismissed it as my bias but honestly this is head and shoulders above every single film Ranbir has done post Barfi. There were some extremely endearing and creative scenes which made me fall in love with Basu all over again. Yeah he copies, yeah he doesn't have a script but he is amazing. I even liked Katrina in a film after god knows how long 😆 Oh and Saswata Chatterjee is a star. He was the best part of the film and his scenes with the younger Ranbir were a treat to watch. Coming to Ranbir, am so glad he did this film. It might flop for all I know but I'd rather he does this than shit like ADHM. And I'd rather he works with Basu than KJo or Imtiaz. The role was totally in his zone and while it can't bear his Barfi act, it was still good in its own right. He aced all those emotional scenes and surprisingly I really liked the subtle love story. They din dwell much on it and it was all left in the background but I really liked how they developed it. Basu needs to do a full fledged love story soon cos he totally has a flair for it. Whether it's angst or heart break or subtle chemistry. I wish the film was shorter and there was more coherence but I guess it's part of the Basu madness. And the climax was sorta underwhelming especially when you compare it to the brilliant ending in Barfi. Anyways to cut the long story short, I really liked the film but am not sure if it will do well. That said, it feels so nice to actually like a Ranbir film after ages and it had to be Basu who had to do it again 😆

after being forced by my cousins im back after watching JJ and neither im a fan of bira/basu nor katty so i was skeptical of watching this film the and wasting my money and time..the negativity around the film did not helped either so here's my review if i have to describe my experience in one word it will be surreal from small hostel to scenic locales of morroco ur transported in the world of jagga its a beautiful painting came alive onscreen the first 20 mins were quite weird as i've never seen a musical i didnt pay heed to the lyrics nd was like "ye ab dialogue bolega" "ye ab normally baat karenge" coming to perfomances i'm completely biased here it's a one man show R-A-N-B-I-R K-A-P-O-O-R he lives and breathes jagga nd pulls off the character with great finesse and charm.when he stutter's it does not look forced he makes it all spontaneous some other actor could've gone OTT but he was at his sublime best as jagga he manages to make u laugh and pull ur heart strings by being goofy nd gloomy.. katrina looked stunning in sm shots she plays her part convincingly and lends an able support to ranbir she sheds her glam diva image and completely transforms herself into a bad-lucky shruti, having said that a better actress could've taken the film to another level saswata chaterjee as baagchi was brilliant the bald guy who played a cop in barfi was also good pritam did good job with the music the songs are placed beautifully in the film and actually pushes the narrative the only drawback IMO is the length they could've trimmed it down considerably.. jagga is a must watch to those who are bored of masala crap bollywood dishes out every other day..dont get influenced by member's/critics review or the negativity watch it and decide yourself my rating:4.5/5 2 stars to ranbir 2 to the cinematograoher nd half to basu/pritam yada yada

Now coming to the movie. TBH I've never seen or experienced anything like this before ever since I started & understanding movies. Not saying this from a fan's perspective but as a cinema lover I suggest others (who's in dilemma whether to watch it or not) please do watch this movie, give it a try, obviously at the Cinema hall.

I was not just watching it, I was feeling it, it was a surreal experience. A masterpiece visual treat. I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a movie THIS much or got entertained. Such an engaging, beautiful and classy movie. People were laughing like hell throughout the movie until the film finished. Trust me, JJ doesn't have a single dull moment & you'll not feel bored even for a single moment. Basu has chosen a great subject & conveyed it marvellously. Direction was top notch and BG score was terrific. Pritam has done a fab job.

Performances -

Ranbir Kapoor is a legend of an actor. I've always said he has all the potentials to become THE all time great. With JJ he's reached to greater heights, he's definitely the ultimate benchmark for all the actors our there (of this gen). His performance was absolutely flawless. He's an absolute brilliance on-screen. His expressions, body language, emoting, crying, stammering scenes everything was exceptional. Soo soo soo effortless & natural. I just love watching him on-screen! He lives the role of Jagga, you'll feel like he's naturally has stammering problem not once it looks forced or OTT. He just keeps getting better & better with each passing movies. He's the pinnacle of talent. RK deserves more praise than anyone else, it was such a risky role (I really had doubt for this part), which could've gone so wrong & had anyone else played the role apart from RK, not only that actor would've ruined it, but also would've made a completely mockery/caricature/joke out of it. So, kudos to Ranbir for taking up such a risky character like Jagga and making it look believable & convincing and delivering a performance of a lifetime! Oh & forgot to mention how handsome and charming he looked in JJ. He IS JAGGA! <3

I was mainly worried because of Katrina, she could've brought down the movie with her performance or ruined it completely but oh boy never thought in my dreams that Basu could extract such a fine performance from her. I'm not praising her just for the sake of any ulterior motive, but her fans needn't to worry at all she was really good, played her part nicely, this is by far the BEST act of hers till date. We were ROFLing everytime she was on-screen, made an impact every time she appeared. Don't remember the last time she looked so gorgeous in a movie. RanKat chemistry was really cute. Didn't like them in Raajneeti but in JJ their chemistry was as good as was in APKGK, if not more. She was the surprise element of JJ.

Saswata Chatterjee is a brilliant actor, he was outstanding!. His scenes with the lil Jagga were heart-touching.

All the supporting cast Rajatava Dutta, Saurabh Shukla, The little Jagga everyone has done a fine job.
