The bugdet is way too high for a musical film that people aren't used to.

I hope that super hero film is shelved

Jagga Jasoos First Day Business

Jagga Jasoos grossed 8 crore nett apprx on its first day which is a low figure for a film with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The film did not show much of a pick up post the 6pm shows as the film despite being a content film which should grow is not for that adult evening audience so remained pretty much flat in the evenings. The film is mainly for children who watch English children channels and this should enable growth on Saturday and Sunday as the families and kids come out in metros but the film needed much wider appreciation to recover its huge costs.

The film was best in Mumbai city and Bangalore while the Hindi belt hardly collected. The film is not a Bombay Velvet as the film will get some sort of weekend audience but not being Bombay Velvet is hardly an achievement. The opening is the seventh best of the year but well short of a double digit opening which is a must when there is the presence of stars. Out of the big films the opening is better than Kaabil only. The opening is lower than Roy which featured Ranbir Kapoor in a guest role and managed a 9.39 crore nett opening. Barfi! which had the same director opened to a similar figure.

movie review

tbh the only reason we went to the movie was coz we haven't seen a hindi movie post badri in theatres. on the whole, its an average/good movie, with Ranbir's acting being its high point.

The acting=> 5/5. Ranbir, like everyone has already mentioned was top notch, easily one of the best talents of the younger generation. Surprisingly, even Katrina was at top form in this movie. Suited her character to the core. The rest of the supporting actors were also good especially the actor playing his dad in the movie.

Story=> 3/5 it was interesting but could have been better, like everyone has mentioned, Anurag tried telling too many different stories in a single movie, if they focused on a single story instead of several different small ones, the flow would've been smother. I ended up losing track of what their main storyline was since there were so many running together.

Music=> 3.5/5 They helped enhance the plot to a huge extent and most of them were fun and catchy to listen to. However, the first 20 minutes were told entirely through songs which got a little boring, after that, there are significantly less songs which makes it easier to watch. But i wont deny that the attempt of a musical was very well done so for that alone it deserves props.

Length=> 1/5 Biggest drawback imo, too too long. (Spoiler) the entire sequence of Jagga figuring out how his teacher died was not needed though it was very interesting, as there were two more cases after that one to showcase his skills. Instead of wasting time on that, i feel the final case, which was the main storyline, to do with illegal arm selling, should've been extended. Furthermore, it should've been the ONLY the storyline. (spoiler ends)

Cinematography=> 5/5 Easily the best part of the entire movie, the visuals were stunning!

Climax=> 3.5/5 Dragged a little too long. At that point we were getting a tad restless for it to end. But thankfully, they ended the storyline properly, instead of relying entirely on a sequel to take it forward, at the same time leaving room open for a sequel.

Chemistry=> 4/5 Though they weren't a romantic pair in the movie, it was still on point. Katrina is Ranbir's best pairing for me personally, i loved them in APKGK so my views may be a little biased. (Spoiler) I did end up rooting for them somewhat throughout the story though that isn't what the movie was trying to achieve, keeping in mind Shruti's entire past with Akash (spoiler ends)

Sequel? yes or no? I'm all up for it, however the length needs to legit be an hour or so less with only that one plot that was briefly touched on the last 30 or so seconds.

Oh, Thugleader's real name is Akash? I didnt know ...acchha toh woh akash and shruti 😆

Love story mein bhi same names the...Basu is obsessed with those names 😆

Barfi also had Shruti...must be the name of some ex gf of Basu 😛

Yes, Basu produced a TV show Love Story on Sab TV ,,,,it was the love story of Akash and Shruti
