His impeccable act is what makes the venture interesting in the second half. He is convincing as a lost soul searching for meaning, and proves his versatility while playing the lunatic, jilted lover, don Teja, a storyteller, etc Deepika stumbles to play her part with the same conviction. Moreover, her character doesn't have much to offer. http://m.hindustantimes.com/movie-reviews/tamasha-review-ranbir-kapoor-steals-the-show/story-t1200RC9VYgnoTkox3sZoJ.html Ranbir - who has been facing criticism over his last few outings onscreen - surprises with his brilliantacting prowess. Ranbir talking to himself in front of the mirror and thetime when he tells his own story to his family are some of the most striking sequences. Be it role-playing Don, aping Dev Anand or the Ved torn between his routine of office, life andthe freedom-loving story-teller - Ranbir aces all forms of the character. Tamasha is definitely Ranbir's best films till date http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/tamasha-movie-review-ranbir-and-deepika-shine-in-a-mediocre-film/1/532921.html

Kapoor revels in the part, demonstrating his transformation from the likeable, crazy dude in Corsica to a staid guy in Delhi with adeptness deepika was great in tamasha almost all critics praised her but she overshadowing ranbir is 😆she's a limited actress who gets overshadowed easily ex:bajirao mastani

Here are thre of fairly well respected reviewers reviewing Tamasha and according to them DP with a poorly conceived character manages to perform well better ever than RK who in spite of the author backed role was not in top form:
Bharadwaj Rangan

Ranbir isn't as convincing in the breakdowns where his inner Majnu keeps bursting out - there's something studied about the way he alternately holds back and lets loose. But he's otherwise fantastic. Or maybe we should say the character is fantastic - at least to those who love Imtiaz Ali's heroes. Ali writes for men the kin
You can see Ved holidaying all by himself - but Tara? In a very funny scene, Don accidentally looks down Mona's blouse and glimpses her "husn ki vaadiyan." She blushes and instinctively begins to button up, but then she pauses. She smiles and takes off her shirt. We keep wanting to know the woman who blushed and paused, which is presumably the woman Mona is when back in India. It's a credit to Deepika's performance that these questions don't loom larger. She takes a chalk outline and teases out a character. The movie-star radiance helps - she's lit in a soft light that emphasises Tara's ethereality. And then we think about Corsica, how she travelled light when Ved carried this huge backpack around all the time. Maybe the point is that he's the one with all the baggage, the one with the story worth getting into.

raja Sen
My big takeaway from #Tamasha is that Deepika Padukone needs an Almodovar-level director now. Super

Masand
Expectedly it's the affecting performances of Ranbir and Deepika that keep you invested in the film until the end, even when the script feels like it's going around in circles. Ranbir displays incredible maturity and just the right amount of restraint in a complex part, once again giving proof of his abundant talent. Deepika does the bulk of her work with those big expressive eyes, and conquers challenging scenes with natural ease. She practically steals the film, despite it being Ved's story essentially.

Every critic has a bias towards certain actors, anyways that's another thing.

I don't know about the first name you mentioned.

But, Raja Sen and Masand have any credibility? 😆

Raja Sen gave 4 stars to ADHM/Fan, he had also given high marks to many other poor films. Also, Masand was the one who gave 3.5/4 stars to PRDP, then he even stated RK was phenomenal in ADHM. Hope, you agree with his opinions on these matters too. 😉

If there were 10% critics then 90% critics have stated that RK stole the show in the film. King... has already posted them.

You can't steal the show in a movie that was designed for you and around you. It's your show to begin with. Someone steals the show when they have a smaller or slighter role but still take away the attention from the one who the show belonged to.

RK didn't steal any show when it was always his movie. DP made an outsized mark compared to the smaller role she had.

Agree completely except the DP thing. Balanced answer!
