I hate how Bollywood and liberal North India media pretend that USA and UK are India's neighbors, while South India is somewhere in the Antartica.

Karan Johar doesn't come from any deprivation background. He doesn't need to show how he's among that rags-to-riches story. In fact, 80% of the people associated with Bollywood whether in the past or today, have had generations who were well off and most of them were because they were in the good books of the British administration during British Raj.

Even Pandit Nehru's PM-ship is a result of his grandfather's chaplusi during the British Raj. India's top businesspeople, empires, Bollywood personalities, brands, etc. are the descendants of the privileged class during India under UK.

If we go deeper into this and research the legacy, the findings would be scary because the torch-bearers today are the very same people who were loyal to Britishers back then.

Bold - So true.. Even some posts here are like that :)

Even in America people used to get embarrassed telling their problems in public... then it changed and as usual BW followed suit 😊

But I think people lying about being abused, particularly child abuse to get sympathy is disturbing... Big disservice to real victims

P.S. I only see your posts here occasionally but they're always insightful 😃

@Bold This is highly disturbing.

On Topic: KJO wants to show he accomplished something from scratch as he thinks that will give him respect. That whole Barkha interview he was moaning and groaning that no one gives him credit for what he accomplished when she said something about Kangy's accomplishments. He called his father Yash Johar a failure of flop films until he turned Dharma around. He is desperate to be acknowledged and he will throw anyone under the bus for that it seems.

If our family has advantages, some ancestor somewhere struggled. No one gets anything for free. Instead of being grateful why lie ? KJO claims in his book indirectly he is not related to Adi while the story for years is Hiroo Johar is Yash Chopra's sister. Very strange.

^^^ Why is that disturbing?

That's what everybody did if they got a chance.

They were the ruling party, for common people of India like kings, until the independence movement took hold in the country

Speaking of exaggerating your misfortunes Oprah ( whose show started these kind of stuff) herself did that

Her story goes - she was born and brought up in extreme poverty, raped by a cousin in her teens gave birth to a child... Then went on to turn her life around blah blah blah

Turns out her misfortunes were greatly exaggerated

But isn't that something like a traitor ? Or are you talking about government jobs which people had to do ? My ancestors as far as I know were farmers so IDK.

What about soldiers who fought for the British ? Complicated again ? IDK how to articulate it but feel it is like a traitor but people had families to feed so there is that. History is complicated and judging them now is foolish but still I feel like that.
