I see the discussions have commenced, YAYY!

Okay, couldn't get enough of Amarendra-Devasena. Seriously, they are couple goals.

Analysis of all Devasena-Amarendra moments Part 1:😳

1. First meeting: Where he is besotted with her, in equal parts for her beauty as well as her fierceness❤️. Mesmerizing. He is so caught up in her that he misses passing the weapon to Kattappa🤣 The way Kattappa asks Devasena for a job on his behalf and how he is forced to bow to her and conceal his identity.

2. The tree trunk scene with Kumara Varma:

Even here his eyes were on her only. He was disconcerted by the fact that she thinks so lowly of him, that he doesn't have any skills/warrior-like qualities. So WHAM and he brings the sword down on the trunk and it splits open into two.

3. The hunting of the forest pigs:

Again Amara's eyes were fully on Devasena throughout the hunt- the way she held herself as she used her arrows to good effect and resolutely went about her task. And how he uses Kumara Varma and shoots arrows on his behalf...with one of them bypassing her arrow by a whisker. Showed you how in sync they were from the beginning.

Loved how Devasena said that she had gauged that he was acting...and then she slips and he catches her by the waist. Kattappa's reaction: She is hooked🤣 Indeed she was. But I really liked how nonchalant she was about it, she bravely held his hand out and said I know a warrior's hand, one that has battled with swords. The look of admiration he gives her at that instant is amazing.

The scene with Kattappa where Amarendra tells him about how he wishes to stay by Devasena's side and win her love is also endearing...that he does not want to reveal himself because he wants to revel in her company.

4. The Muraidana Mukunda scene: (Tamil)

Deva sets him a test and makes him stand in front of the bull...but for Amarendra it is more important to stay by her side and pretend to be a dunce. So he withstood the attack and was injured badly...and then when the healer comes, and as Kattappa forces him up, he falls on Devasena❤️

And then Kattappa plays Cupid and wants Devasena to sing a lullaby for Amarendra. And she cleverly sings Muraidana Mukunda and also says how sorry she is that she had him injured through the lyrics.❤️ I loved the entire song and how Amarendra immediately gauged that Devasena was singing for him, and his looks which suggested pure enchantment...and how Devasena had come to mean the world to him is evident. And how he slowly falls asleep on the tree and how Devasena looks at him as she offers prayers to the moon. BLISS.

Will post Part 2 and 3 tomorrow:)

Oookay. Finally finished up some work, I can rant in peace now. This is solely on Amara-Deva. I have so much of thoughts and feels on them I needed a post just for them. My comment on other characters might come up today or tomorrow - is it obvious that I have been keeping this in for too long? 😆

Warning, this is long. I couldn't help it. And just in case, I wanna mention this: SPOILER ALERT.

First of all, this movie has proven, probably once and for all, that character-driven content can never go wrong. Vijayendra Prasad garu and SSR took sibling rivalry, coupled it with family drama, set it against the backdrop of the kingdom of Mahishmati - and then inserted these AMAZING characters right in the middle of them. The way each and every character pushed this plot forward was just too good to put into words.

Amarendra - This 6'2'' of pure bangaram who has my heart. I have seen so many interviews by SSR where he mentions that Amarendra is a reflection of Ram. A completely good at heart character who stands for Dharma at all costs. What amazes me is that SSR took such a good man, devoid of shades' as we see in Sivagami, and made me love him so much. I always tend to like shady characters more, but Amara was the biggest exception. Maybe it's the charm. D literally exuded charm as Amara. Uff.

Special shout out to his sleek way of teaching his queen the particular bow and arrow technique. That entire sequence was a dream! It looked like a dance to me, one only the both of them knew the tune to. Eeps. So much of love for that.

Devasena. Where do I begin with this woman? Safe to say she is my most favourite character of all time now. She was the character I was most curious about in BB1, and I knew she'd be an awesome one, and I wasn't disappointed. So unapologetic, stands for what she believes in, and more than anything, she went head to head with Sivagami! Goodness! "Antha ingitham kooda illaiya?!" (don't you have even that much of sense?!) - I was screaming when she said this right at Sivagami. And she didn't even flinch. I wasn't expecting that at all! The kind of gut this woman possesses, it's out of this world. None of the other characters, not even Bijjala, dared to stand their ground and collide head on with Rajamata.

And then, in her final trimester of pregnancy, at her freaking baby shower, she did this again. And she demanded her husband to take back his right, to claim the throne again, in front of everyone. She saw Bhalla's conniving mind before the rest did (sort of). And the best part is, if she knew Bhalla was a capable and good king, she wouldn't have asked this of her husband. She knew the tyrant king was crap, and she wanted the rightful person to rule Mahishmati. If only Sivagami could have seen that. And then, at the darbar, in chains, still pregnant. Did you guys see the way she literally pulled the guard who was holding on to her chains when she was confronting Bhalla? The sheer strength!

I love that she wasn't depicted to be a self-sacrificial mother of all things pure. I mean, sure, she sacrificed comfort and wealth and lived with the common people when they were exiled, but she did so on her own terms. She didn't forgo her dignity and her happiness, or put up with any crap.

And the best part - Amarendra did not let her put up with it as well. I am so used to seeing women being blamed for tearing families apart after marriage (both on screen and off), with the husband always blaming his wife, that Amara literally won my heart the moment he defended her in the name of Dharma. He was clear on whose fault it was. The kind of relationship they possess is, honest to God, goals. Like I mentioned some time ago, they are truly equals in every sense. He obviously reacts when Devasena questions Sivagami, but other than that, he never once unnecessarily blamed her for anything that happened. And she, in turn, felt apologetic for the rift caused between Amara and Sivagami, but also knew where she stood in her right as his wife.

But what breaks my heart the most is the promise he made to her, right after his reveal at Kunthala. She refuses to bow down and come with him as a prisoner, and he assures her she wouldn't have to. He promised her she would never lose her dignity, never be in shackles. We all know how long that lasted. Honestly breaks my heart. The night that Amara died, so many things happened in such a short span of time, that I am so sure Devasena was emotionally dead by the time Bhalla imprisoned her. Did you catch her expression when she saw Sivagami and baby Mahendra fall into the river? And then, again, when she finally lit Bhalla on fire? She was getting her vengeance, but other than that, I could see nothing behind her eyes. Just numb. She was solely living on the need to seek revenge (and of course, to see her son). I don't know if S was specifically asked to give those expressions, but man, kudos to both S and SSR for that. I really can't imagine any normal human being making it out of that trauma without serious damage to their emotions. Devasena was dealt the shortest hand of all, having to live like that for years.

I still would like to imagine Amara stood by her in spirit in the 25 years she was imprisoned. Embracing her in the cold nights, shading her in the scorching heat. Ugh. This couple's tragedy is enough to dampen my mood at any point of the day. I became too attached to them. But I always stand by what I say: in my head, Amara is alive, and these two have a bunch of kids together. And Mahendra is the chief of mischief, without a doubt.

...I apologise for the long post. I told you. I have a lot of pent-up frustration and love for the both of them.
