The 'Ash' effect

The disappearing act: Vidya Balan
We hear that Vidya Balan's surprise omission from the current promos of Mani Ratnam's Guru is courtesy Aishwarya Rai. It's being said that Ash wanted undivided attention in the promotion of the film and left no stones unturned in achieving that.

Poor Balan is so miffed with the fiasco that she has refused to accompany the team to any of their promotional activities, including the film's premieres.

Ash dahling, even after so many years in showbiz and such phenomenal success, you're so insecure about your presence, that too from a rank newcomer? Tch tch tch!

Jinxed?

D'ice'y maiden: Aishwarya Rai
We don't believe in superstitions, but we couldn't help wondering how men associated with Aishwarya Rai always pay a huge price professionally. It began with Salman Khan, who had to face rough weather with Hello Brother, Chal Mere Bhai, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (which starred Rai), et al.

Viveik Oberoi too had his share of flops with Kyun Ho Gaya Na, Kisna and Home Delivery. What's more, he's still struggling to find a foothold in the industry.

Now, Bachchan Jr too seems to heading towards the same fate. While Umrao Jaan failed to make a splash, the superb Hrithik Roshan grossly overshadowed his role in Dhoom:2. We sincerely hope Guru has a different story to tell!

Bappi replaces Abhishek

No time: Abhishek Bachchan In no time at all: Bappi Lahiri
While on Guru, A R Rahman was very keen to use Abhishek Bachchan's voice in one of his compositions — Ek Lo Ek Muft — but the actor's busy schedules prevented the duo from jamming together.

It was then that the composer heard Bappi Lahiri and considered using the Blingman's voice for the track.

Bappida, in his true-blue style, recorded the song in two hours flat and whizzed away. How that's for a replacement theory?

Defeats me.....Ash is the main lead of Guru..Vidya is just a supporting character.. Vidya herself says that it isnt her movie, and the only reason why she did it was 'Coz she wanted to work with the director....SO why is the media clinging onto this small trivial fact as a last straw and pitting her against Ash 🤢...Vidya is anyday a much better actress than Ash👏,and she's 10 years junior to Ash,I'm sure even she wouldnt want to hog the limelight and promotions of Guru when she isnt playing the central character like Mallika Sherawat who plays the most forgettable roles but brags on and on about her "meaty" role in her promotions, thus becomming the butt of ridicule when her film actually releases....

You dont need to be snide to everyone who dont subscribe to your point of view...Please try to be moderate, because not everyone would think the way you do!!!

Vidya surely has more talent than Ash...Vidya's just 2 films old,and she's proven her mettle in these two movies,it was remarkable that she left a mark in what was an out and out Sanjay dutt-arshad warsi movie ..Regarding oscar worthy work,Has Ash delivered any phenomenal oscar worthy performance till date??.Or for that matter, has any contemporary Indian actress given any oscar worthy performance??NO!..I didnt say she has done oscar worthy work, but she's definitely talented, whether you agree or not doesnt make a difference!!..😛

I like both of them, but I feel Vidya's more talented ..That's my personal opinion, you dont have to deride my opinions..Please understand that personal opinions arent facts, each person has a different perspective, and every person's opinion should be respected! That's basic politesse!!

I wouldn't go as far to say tht Vidya is more talented than Ash coz she's just a newcomer but Vidya sure has the potential to be No.1. She was superb in Parineeta and her act in LRMB was very balanced. She could have easily gone OTT with the 'good morning mumbai' act but she under-played it beautifully. Of alte, Ash's performances have been very ordinary to say the least. UJ was just about OK in terms of her solo perf and Hrithik just saved her frm all the criticism in D-2 with his act!

As for not attending the premieres, well if she's not got a substansial role in the film why shd she waster her time? She's got otehr more important films on hand tht she would like to concentrate on. And, I don't see why Ash would want to hog all the limelight? She doesn't need to and I don't think she would!

As for Ash being unlucky for Abhi.....their pair doesnt work onscreen and thts why their moveis fail! It's got nothing to do with luck....they just don't clikc on screen----watch tht tere bina song frm guru and you'll notice the total lack of chemistry!

Interesting article. tfs. Just wondering if this has any coincidence or link with Devdas in which Madhuri was given a raw deal and did not feature in any of the premier shows or award ceremonies. Devdas was entirely flanked as an Ash SRK flick whereas everyone who saw Devdas were all in praise for Maduri. I felt it wasn't for Madhuri the film would have been fairly insipid. But anyhow one must not read too much into these articles as they can exaggerate facts.

In any case I don't agree with the part that Ash is a jinx for all her men. I think it is more of her selection of men which is questionable. 😉

Duh..Ash is a jinx and the whole world is aware of it.

I don't like Abhi much but he really needs to dump her and move on with his life.
