Recently, there was a huge debate concerning Sonakshi Sinha's performance at the Justin Bieber concert. The actress was reportedly approached for a performance at the concert, which eventually didn't materialise.

Singer Kailash Kher slammed the organisers for choosing an actor over a singer for a stage performance. Armaan Malik and Amaal Maalik both joined the conversation and it wasn't the same anymore. There were heated arguments between the singer gang and Sonakshi.

Many actors spoke out on the issue and now, when Ayushmann Khurrana who is also an actor and a singer was quizzed about the same, his reaction was more sensible. He started off saying, "To begin with, I think it's a very Indian tradition of lip-syncing songs. In our country we have a norm that we have lip-sync, but in the West you generally sing your own songs. So I don't know what's the brouhaha about? Because I think if you sing your own songs, it just lends more credibility to your character couse you're lending your own voice to the character. But having said that, talking about his Bieber concert, I think there's a commercial aspect. There's a hierarchy in our industry I don't know whether it's right or wrong, We are obsessed with cricket and cinema. They are the two huge entities in our country. Automatically, cricketers and actors are given the spotlight."

He explained with an example, "Even somebody like Shah Rukh Khan sings Suraj Hua Maddham, people believe he's a singer. He owns that song. Gerua, people believe that Shah Rukh has sung the song because he owns that song. We consume music visually. It's ironic. Like we see the visuals, we watch the video and then we start liking the song. When an album comes out, you're like this is an okay song, then you see the film and you're like Oh wow! It's a great song. It's like that. It's just the tradition."

Does he think Kailash's statement was right? He nods negative. "So I think, for the visual thing and for the commercial aspect, an actor will be more sell-able than a singer. It is like that. Whether it's right or wrong, we can debate about it. But that's the tradition in our country. What do you do?"
