Why is Ranveer paid so much when most of his hits include Deepika ? Unless Varun paid both the female and male roles, Alia deserves equal credit, but no one gives her that. So stop with the BS that the audience goes to see males. Only Khans and a brave Kangy or a Vidya. So why the hell aren't they paid on that level ? Shahid is a flop star and Saif is not a big star but how much were they paid for Rangoon ? Kangy was called a bitch for asking for equal money and mocked when Rangoon flopped, what about SRK or Bhai or Aamir who have had flops ? BS and double standards.

Depends on when Ranbir signed the movie. If he did when he had back to back 100 crore hits then he gets the signing amounts that later seems obscene. For 1 hit of Kangana or Vidya they have 5 disasters. Whereas Khan bring consistent good numbers. There is no real comparison between two.

The thing about Deepika is when she could have demanded obscene amount of money she chose Hollywood. Ranbir's flops are recent, Deepika hits are recent. If you look at recent time, she got paid for Padmavati and Ranveer needs the movie to be hit. Ranbir had to take paycheck cut for KJO after he flopped.

As for why Varun got all hype for Badri- he was playing title role, his role was more complex and Alia was on verge of getting overhyped thanks to KWK and all talks about nepotism. So her contribution towards BKD's success was downplayed.

If you look at some of the belts where Bollywood needs to work, they are mostly patriarchal. Bollywood needs younger male stars to get success in that notorious patriarchal belt.

Payment depends on scenes shot. Also how the film is marketed like the trailers and posters and who is the lead.
Movies with a title lead as male will get paid more than supporting actors even the love interest whether female or male.

Can someone here confirm how much Kangana was paid for Queen and Tanu Weds Manu because she was the lead and all male cast was supporting.

If she was paid less then there is a problem.

How was his role more complex ? Throwing her in a trunk of a car and acting as an ahole ? Alia's was equally complex IMO if we are talking complex and BKD. As for Alia being overhyped, she was being dinged too about nepotism. I know cause I was doing it too. So I can understand if KJO downplayed her, but it was BO people who did that. It's like Varun the superstar has arrived ? Um..and Alia ? The sweeper ? The pariah ? If she is getting dinged for nepotism she should be getting credit for BO too.

As for Ranbir didn't he have disasters between YJHD and Tamasha, yet why was he paid so much and if he did have bad BO why wasn't his amount reduced? I honestly don't know BO so please explain that.

The signing amount is fixed when the producer approaches a star. If RK signed movie before or just after YJHD then he gets what he asked for. There could be time gap between when movie was signed and released. There are few things to notice when he signed and was filming Tamasha- strength of first day (besharam was 26 crore even if it was flop), BO (he had 2 100 crores hit in 2013- one of which had his name in title barfi and YJHD which was developed as Ayaan-RK project), Bombay Velvet which was hyped as special movie and amazing popularity. He was Gen Y's popular choice in 2012-2014 with no release in 2014. it is wrong assumption to think flops are only because audience hate stars. It could be because they don't like the type of roles star is doing and is cue for star to make change. Flop is used as indicator by industry to see how star makes a comeback (their durability) and the extent of star's popularity.

BKD - Varun had title role (the name of movie) so he had good chance to get more noticed. That is the beauty of that kind of role. His record is even cleaner than Alia (100%). He has more 100 crore movies now. And Bollywood is revamping its male line. Khans are older than more than half of their viewer. Hrithik is failing and Akshay is consistent but not as popular as khan or young as Varun. Bollywood needs a male star who is nearer to viewer's age. He is not superstar yet. But he is getting there. BKD was not a path breaking movie but it grabbed attention of younger viewer and single screen audience. KJO is the producer. So he could have trumped up Alia's success but he was hampered by all the allegation. Media can't do a turn around and hype her now that they have made her symbol of nepotism. They have trapped themselves. Once media does about turn on nepotism issue they will turn on Kangs. It is all politics. 😊

Lol her girls in the industry are more hardworking than boys : there itself is the gender bias and stupid she endorsed the same statement she wanted to contradict.

Girls have to work harder and be always top of their game in terms of looks dancing skill etc while arjun kapoor and abhishek bachhans can roam around ungroomed and without improvement

Those are industry sons. Not the average outsider.

More opportunities for outsider women in Bollywood then men.
