Uttam Kumar did a few Bollywood movies, one was Chhoti Si Mulakaat with Vyajayanthimale, it was the remake of Bengali Hit movie Agni Pariksha with Uttam Suchitra, the evergreen jodi, sadly the Hindi version was rather terrible 😆

Some handsome Bong actors like Priyanshu Chatterjee didnt get good chances in BW even though they had looks and talent:

Ashok Kumar , Devika Rani, Tarun Bose, Sharmila Tagore and Rakhee were all Bengali and found lot of success. Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen did well.

If you look at history of Bollywood, it started with displaced population from Pakistan, Anglo Indian (our first female superstars were mostly in this category) and Muslims with sprinkling from here and there. Maharashtra had powerful Prabhat, Tamil and Bengal had their own studio. These 3 regions started early and very trying to build their own industry.

Bollywood was very inclusive during its initial phase. As it stabilized it formed a standard pattern based on taste of their audience.

Men - Northern region mostly Punjab or Muslim
Female- Muslim, South Indian, Bengali, Punjabi, Maharashtrian.

There were always exclusion.

He was a popular hero in the 60s and did so many movies with Asha Parekh, Babita etc

But I always hated him for his effeminate looks and his abuse of teenaged Rekha 🤢

rahul bose is jack of many trades and hence did not get success.

Social work too, he does huge amt of social work, hes in the most charitable actors list

Recently he directed that movie Poorna abt the tribal teenage girl who climbed Mt Everest

Hes the Jack of all Trades. 😊

Malavath Poorna is the youngest Indian to climb Mt Everest at the age of 13 years 11 months
