Akshay Kumar gets emotional as he launches Bharat Ke Veer app to help the families of martyred soldiers

Disturbed by the Uri attacks, Akshay Kumar had proposed a mass initiative to help the families of the deceased Indian soldiers on this Republic Day. He had also released a video explaining the same saying, "I think that our country should have a website or a mobile app which directly connects the kin of martyred soldiers and the people who want to extend help to them. This website will host a list of the names of the martyrs, along with the bank account numbers of their close ones - mother, father or wife. And if someone wants to help that jawan's family financially, they can directly make a contribution into their accounts. That account number will be deleted once the total deposited money accounts to Rs 15 lakh. By this, family members of the martyred soldiers can directly use that money." Well, guess Akshay has kept his word for he just launched the app in Delhi today. Yes.

A felicitation ceremony was held in Delhi this afternoon where Home Minister Rajnath Singh honoured the CRPF Jawans with bravery awards on the occasion of Shaurya Divas' Following which, Akshay along with the Home Minister then launched the Bharat Ke Veer website as a monetary contribution to the kins of fallen soldiers. An emotional Akshay also took to Instagram as he launched the website saying, "A Day I Found Hard To Hold Back My Tears...honouring the widows of our fallen soldiers. Support the families of our Bravehearts. #BharatKeVeer Now LIVE -> BharatKeVeer.Gov.in." Indeed, Akshay has become symbolic to patriotism. First, he would preach nationality through films but now he is also translating the same emotion in real life. No wonder he won the National Award for Rustom this year because according to jury members like Priyadarshan, being patriotic qualifies one to be called as the best actor.

Here's what Akshay posted,

Akshay truly used his power and voice for the right cause. These people can influence so much of good things in the society and not just by movies and I m glad he thought about it. I hope more people will realise the power and ability they have to work for the society and do it.
Also please shut up with the National Award. He deserves better for this job, give him a Padma Shree which he rightly deserves. Not some best actor award for a stupid movie. He did much more than act in a movie.Give him what he truly deserves. I will be annoyed if they think National award for best actor is the best way to honour him for his work.

I didn't know. But is it only given once to an individual? I wanted him to get one for his social work towards the country not for arts but anyways.

I would've respected Akki more for all these things he's doing if he hadn't been a citizen of another country.
I mean it's not like he was a child of immigrant parent or moved there when he was young. He clearly accepted a citizenship of another country in his adulthood while working in his own country.
All these initiatives just puts a question mark on him. Is he doing this genuinely or just for publicity and to look good.
Why would you accept a citizenship of another country if you love your own country so much. A country that has given you so much fame and weath.

But this is just my personal opinion.

Akshay Kumar got in 2009 for Art.
I agree it would make it more respectable had he got it for his social service.

The Government of India instituted two civilian awards-Bharat Ratna & Padma Vibhushan in 1954. The latter had three classes namely Pahela Varg, Dusra Varg and Tisra Varg. These were subsequently renamed as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri vide Presidential Notification issued on January 8, 1955.

Bharat Ratna
Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of the country. It is awarded in recognition of the exceptional service/performance of the highest order in any field of human endeavour. It is treated on a different footing from Padma Award. The recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister to the President of India. No formal recommendations for Bharat Ratna are necessary. The number of Bharat Ratna Awards is restricted to a maximum of three in a particular year. Government has conferred Bharat Ratna Award on 45 persons till date.

Padma Awards
Padma Awards, which were instituted in the year 1954, is announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day except for brief interruption(s) during the years 1978 and 1979 and 1993 to 1997.
The award is given in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service;
Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of a high order; and
Padma Shri for distinguished service.

Uhmm dont know why he changed his citizenship. But he was born and brought up in India. His reason for the citizenship of Canada is a mystery.

He has done good work so its fine. Anyone doing good work for people is welcome.
