Yes probably they did not want to support the movie because of its theme. Sad though.

Absolutely sure. National Awards lost all credibility for me and especially since last year (where all the top 4 awards were given to BW and that too for average performances)

Agreed!! I feel super bad that aligrah and Hooda didn't get any recognition!!!
Even if not a award then atleast they could've given them a special mention or something!!

Felt that's the reason. But mainly due to someone like Priyadarshan on board too and played biased with his favs

Large sections of our society are still homophobic man! There are so many out there who fear coming out because of how messed up the laws are. Haven't seen Aligarh but if I'm not wrong Manoj was on the list of every major critic out there when it came to their favorite performances of the year. The guy from whatever I have come across got amazing reviews for Aligarh. Then again I don't put NA on some pedestal so him not getting one doesn't take away anything from his brilliant performance. I'm glad though that the "sold out popular awards" did acknowledge the guy.
