omg did not expect it to be such a sweet n beautiful love story! (not being biased!)

I loved the old world love story between diljit and anushka... the ending actually made me cry which hasnt happened in a long time while watching a Bollywood movie.. u will have to watch it to know if it was a happy or sad ending.. Suraj Sharma was very good too..I liked the 2 contrasting worlds they showed n the love n conflict between the 4 characters... i's definitely a slightly offbeat love story with a bit of magic.. Those reviewers saying the movie is slow paced..maybe for some or we could say our world now is too fast paced, we dont appreciate little moments anymore.

Anushka should be proud of herself for backing this movie... what a sweet movie to add to her filmography... I think those ppl that dont watch in the cinema r going to love it on tv

Sounds like a decent film but I guess too slow? Oh well, I still look forward to seeing this

Does the film only have to recover 9 crores?! That seems abnormally low, how much was spent on promotions?

I was expecting it to be slow but I actually thought it was fine... it also depends on personal taste

21 Crores including P&A distribution (Fox official figures)
Satallite rights were sold for 12 Crores

Phillauri Story: Phillauri is Anushka Sharma's second production venture after her stellar hit NH10. In this movie, she will be seen playing the role of a spirit known as Shashi who gets trapped in the human realm after Kanan marries a tree to cleanse his bad luck and how Kanan (Suraj Sharma), a man born under an unlucky star, helps her return to her own realm where she used lived in the tree. Directed by Anshai Lal, the movie also star Diljit Dosanjh who plays the role of Anushka's onscreen love interest. It is all set to release in theatres on March 24.

Phillauri Movie Review : The actors sweep in and carry the film, though. With his body language and voice modulation, Suraj Sharma nails the confused-aimless millennial and lightens the mood. Mehreen Pirzada's helpless and hopelessly-in-love Anu is endearing. Diljit Dosanjh brings his trademark goodness to a rather bland role. Phillauri box office collection day 1: Anushka Sharma has brought together a team of young and bright people including first time director Anshai Lal.

After the success of NH10, the audience has high expectations from Anushka Sharma's second production venture, Phillauri. The movie to a large extent is seen as a step to break away from pre-conceived notions of filmmaking. Anushka has brought together a team of young and bright people including first time director Anshai Lal.

However, film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi said that Phillauri will start on a slow note at the box office and one shouldn't be surprised. "Phillauri is not a mass entertainer. Unlike a Baahubali 2 or Bajrangi Bhaijaan, this film doesn't need to go to every corner of the country. Makers have promoted the movie keeping these things in mind. It has a limited release on about 1100 screens. Phillauri can collect around Rs 2-3 crore on opening day," Akshaye Rathi told indianexpress.com.

Anushka's Phillauri Vs Swara's Anaarkali of Arrah

When asked if Phillauri can expect better trade over the weekend, Akshaye said, "Not really. I am expecting the film to collect the same amount of Rs 2-3 crore on Saturday as well. The film will show a growth on Sunday." Phillauri is made on a budget of Rs 15 crore. Akshaye says that makers have already recovered more than 50% of investment from satellite and music sales. "These kinds of films work solely on content. If there is a positive word of mouth, people will surely watch the movie."

Asked if Phillauri can face some sort of competition from Badrinath ki Dulhania that just collected Rs 100 crore, Akshaye said, " There is hardly any film today that stays in theatres beyond two weeks (unless it's some big star or big banner film). Those who wanted, have already seen Badrinath ki Dulhania."
